From an airsofting viewpoint 2007 has been a rather good year (excluding the obvious main issue for us in the UK), i've seen the AK market grow nicely and look forwards to further saturation like what has happened for Armalites, hopefully some affordable Russian tactical things could come about but I doubt there's the market.

World War 2 weapons would be wonderful, especially affordable spring powered bolt actions (the K98k is a good start but I prefer mags) and an AEG Sten or PPSH41.

I always thought the lack of kits of any kind (and the associated price of those that do exist) was down to the lack of unit sales coupled with a manufacturing outlay for setting up the production line so, if this is largely true, surely if enough of us said "yes!" to kits, manufactureres would be more receptive to the idea?

Enough, yes. But how many is enough? The entire UK market hasn't been very significant to most foreign producers in years past.

GBB conversion kits are something I had in mind too, however it would be only good for guns with a larger dimension than the donor gun.

Since Marui has released thier new AK74MN, do you believe AEG recoil/shock and blowback are of concerns in 2008? Or rather Tanio Koba and Western Arms approach into GBB rifles? I find both interesting however given, I do like my guns working long so I'm leaning towards AEG for all-weather combat. And of course Systema has brought the MP5 out of the bag, which does feature electronic firing control and more as standard and hopefully the bolt must be pulled back to reload. You guys believe 2008 airsoft guns should function like this or still the same BB-spraying? One thing I do like what Marui and other companies are doing is using more solid materials that won't creak as before (due to plastic), but yet I feel the lack of re-makes of more famous guns. For example guns like the MP5, M4, UZI, PSG1, G3, and so forth quickly remade into newer models and functions like the AK74MN from Marui *(full metal, blowback and same magazines).

I did have one idea which was an electric shotgun, but I was wondering what you guys think. Basically an AEG ver. of the TM spring shotguns. The pump is still manually operated, however the battery will pull the piston for you. And best of all if the battery runs out, you can still use the pump as a springer. I was thinking of talking to Marui about it, but what you think?

Sound like having two systems that could go wrong may be an issue. Otherwise not a bad idea, there are shotguns that are pump action and semi auto. It would have to be a very touchy semi auto though, then you could fire LOADS of BBs really fast and beat all those ROF guys in CQB ^_^ XD!

Another thing I would like is to find a use for the charging handle, that would be reeeeeeally nice.

It would be interesting to see less springer shotguns and more gas ones. Having fired real steel pump-action shotguns, you simply cannot replicate the action with a springer shotgun, because of the force required to pull back the spring. However, I feel that gas rather than electricity is the way to go on this score - much more realistic and impressive when fired than a whining electric motor.

lol perhaps with the use of the new recoil and shock engine in a shotgun might be something then eh? Atleast the noise of the internal recoil/blowback will cancel out that motor turning noise. I still like my idea on the AE-Shotgun thing and atleast have it for a SAIGA 12 or SPAS12.

Sorry if this has been said, I've read 2 out 5 pages and felt I needed to add:

What about some appreciation for the effort that has been made so far? In the past few years, there have been enormous leaps in airsoft technology, more than I can see happening in almost all the years beforehand.

- Introduction of LiPo batteries

- Modular gearboxes

- Split gearbox design

- AEG blowback

- V-hop

- More 3 round burst systems

On top of this, there's an increasing trend from high-end manufacturers to make weapons as realistic as possible. VFC's efforts for the HK416 and AK series are a prime example, and then there's the more recent release of the SCAR by Star, CA, and VFC. Even TMs release of the Type 89 shows at least some commitment to having realistic materials and weight as standard, not something you have to get as extra.

Almost in direct response to this, there has been a veritable explosion in the manufacture and variety of LPEGs and MPEGs, with some of the companies doing a lot in terms of quality control to try and win back some reputation of reliability. Army L85 is a prime example - in almost every way as good as the G&G, but so cheap it's near unbelievable, it's no wonder how quickly they sold out.

Additionally, I have to give praise to ICS, who not only have made some high-quality and innovative AEGs already, but are continuing to do so and asking for our input into the design process. This is a great step forward in customer relations, not only because end users are getting input, but because end users from all over the world are getting input.

What I'm looking forward to is some of the more recent developments becoming commonplace, rather than the exception to the rule. If these innovations became more widespread then I think that would really improve airsoft.

This is airsoft you'll get none of that New developments are last weeks news - folks just want the Next Big Thing announced so they can say they're sooo going to buy it (90 percent of the time to give them an excuse not to buy the Last Big Thing that they said they were soooo going to buy the week before) :P

Definitely more variety!

Like:

an affordable Galil (all versions)

A good Browning HI-Power (WE, go for it!) :)

M1928 Thompson AEG (with drum mag, please...)

"cowboy" style guns (Colt SAA, lever-action rifles, etc...)

FN MAG

A good FN 2000 (JLS, fix that gearbox!!) :)

Personally I'd like to see a quality jump in all AEG manufacturering. I'd like to see Split Gearboxes become something more common (and they are, thankfully!) I'd like to see the use of MOSFETs, Capacitors, and other Electronics thrown into AEG's to make them more reliable and have cooler features similiar to the Systema PTW (although w/out the price tag) I'd like to see AEG's be made with better standards internally so they become more reliable, better cross compatability as well.

In general, i'd like to see some inovation to improve range of AEG's and other guns past this 250ft maximum range thing so that engagements become less close quarters and more realistic.

Of all of the things I wouldnt mind some rule changes as well to make stuff more realistic like condeming certain gun categories to certain fps's to limit range.

personally I would like to see airsoft shottys get improved with things like birdshot shells, have shottys that hit harder and function closer to there

real world counter parts, iam keeping my fingers crossed that one of the top airsoft manufactures will decide to make an airsoft version of the AA12 :D

Overall I've very happy with airsoft in 2007, I think it has been a good year all round with many new companies and designed released.

I would really like to see some Muskets, gas powered, bb's loaded via the ramming rod tube and having to cock each shot. In fact I'm planning on making something along those line (I bet it'll change before I'm finished).

I would also like to see the Escort system to be a success.

But what I most what is another good year of playing and enjoying airsoft.

1. AEG blowback that does not use a proprietary magazine or an external gas rig. Fake recoil in the buffer tube of an M4, 12 gram CO2 rig in a full stock that powers a sliding weight against the butt pad.....anything!

2. Three round burst (on applicable guns).

3. FETs, battery monitoring, etc

4. A replica of the SOPMOD stock that doesn't cost $125.
