ACE of SPADES11
So, I finally re-painted my Protec ACE. Now that that is done, I figured I would post pictures of my brain buckets. First, my PASGT that I painted as a test for kicks: I bought a Mk. 6 I found in an Army/Navy store because they are expensive as Hell online and not common in the US: Now, for the ACE. I wanted OD with a mix between light and dark contrast, so painted it tan and brown which looked awesome: And then I put my net on, and went at it. I didn't make it OD enough for my liking and there was too much brown for my liking, so I gently sprayed some OD over the brown parts and to help with breaking up the straight lines and a consistent OD look at a distance: Not nearly as nice as pretty much any helmets in this thread, but hey, why not share? lol Edited November 9, 2011 by ACE of SPADES11
Blackweell!
Sexy paint job.
Lizzard
If you wear the blue one on the left portion of your helmet and the red on the right, others can tell if you're facing towards them or away from them. It's like the red & green lights on a boat. -Piano I get this, but wouldn't this make an excellent target for the enemy at night?
spetsnazdave87
I think I've got the suspension on my 2001 sorted. Googled it and found several pics of guys with theirs at a similar level. Once my sordins arrive it should look ok, shouldn't it?
Jimmypie
Looks fine dave, if you havent already i normally remove the "donut" pad in the centre when using my sordins. keeps the lid at the right level and a bit easier to cinch down.
spetsnazdave87
yeah I was planning to once I get them, they're on the way now now just need to find an adapter for them for my prr lol. Cheers man!
Lizzard
I'd say so, that's about the level mine sits at.
A. Hawkins
After a long period of waiting, I've finished my MK.7 (VII) Helmet. As soon as I get my hands on an orig. british NVG Mount, I'll replace it to the one right now.
ACE of SPADES11
Hawk, is that like foliage green hockey tape? I have never seen that before, so it looks odd to me. Looks really nice though!
spetsnazdave87
it's british sniper tape
A. Hawkins
Yeh, Dave is right! It's british sniper tape. Instead of lacing the helmet cover to the helmet, it's much more comfortable to tape it as far as i can see. Here you can see a few examples by squaddies in Afghanistan. mrezzy
Finally have some pictures of my lid, its about 80% done. My Surefire Helmet light and MS2000 Strobe came in today but I have no acceptable way of mounting either. Without further ado here is my budget Ops-Core style Protec. hey what straps did you use on your protec A-Alpha? I've been meaning to switch out mines for something more snug. Roecar
It's using an Ops-Core H-nape harness.
Carter
@ Purvins and Blackweel! What is that thing on your FASTs? I've always wondered. It looks like comms but it is too high and not attached to anything. Is it a light? Sorry for the dumb question I've just always seen those doohickies on those side rails with no idea what they are. Carter
Oh very cool, and inexpensive too! What is the advantage over a regular helmet light? The ability to position it as you need it I assume?
