Warning
Thanks guys! I'm thinking of switching to black furniture, probably staying with the ACS but swapping the Ultimak/AFG for a CAA railed handguard and an RVG/hand stop. I have a spare receiver extension that I'm going to try to hack onto the RPK as well. Might look decent, but I don't know what I would do with the handguards. could you post a complete parts list for that magpull'd AK? ComradeMP1
Na, The receiver is still sitting in a box somewhere. Should have used a Real Sword GB. Now that I has money, I plan on eventually using the receiver in conjunction with Daytonagun internals. If I'm gonna throw money down for DG internals, gonna do it up pro style. Crumbelievable
Hmm, that's a really nice Real Sword type 56-1... I guess I'd like it to look a bit more aged though. Maybe I should read Guinesses's awesome weathering guide and use various different finishing techniques to- OH NO ALL THE ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL COMPONENTS DROPPED OUT AND IT FELL INTO A BATH FULL OF COCA COLA FOR AN HOUR Hey, that looks surprisingly good... Ooh. Aah. The end. (For those wondering- it's being used for a photo shoot)
Dahmer45
All you had to do was put the metal parts in coca cola for an hour?
Crumbelievable
It was probably closer to an hour and a half, truth told. I'd reccomend anyone else thinking of doing it chucks something non-essential like a flashider into a glass of coke first, to test how it affects different finishes/metals. But yes- chucked it in coke for an hour. Job done.
aznriptide859
I can't believe you wasted so much Coke. Good job.

Shadow_Ocelot
Did the coke rust anything? Or was it just a wash off with water, dry, and everything was all right? That looks really nice for sitting in soda for an hour
adrian_geot
I did the same some time ago. You will see next month, the gun became a hell of rust. Now i am looking for a new procedure. Edited December 13, 2010 by adrian_geot

Dahmer45
CYMA has an AKMSU(sorta) out. http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=97418.0 Halfway down the page, Ehobbyasia has them in stock for $155. If they're still available in January I'll probably pick one up. Edited December 13, 2010 by Dahmer45

That looks really nice for sitting in soda for an hour I did the same some time ago. You will see next month, the gun became a hell of rust. Now i am looking for a new procedure. It had a little bit of rust pre-coking, and this appears to have disappeared for now- I'll be interested to see what happens to it, rust-wise, but I suspect that since I cleaned it pretty thoroughly afterward that this isn't really any worse than wire-wooling or anything else, in the long run. The odd spray of silicon or similar should keep any serious oxidizing at bay, and as for the rest, hey, it's an AK.
howitzer
Does anyone know if I can put real AKM furniture onto my G&G AIMS i’m only asking as I want to put a GP30 onto it. For what it's worth man, I put a set of East German hand guards on mine. Only took a small bit of filing on the lower part for them to fit.
