I do agree. Excellent performance, outstanding range & accuracy, tiny and light weight.

Can't argue with that tbh, now I've given it some thoguht.

Is quite nice just going out with a lightweight bandoleer instead of a plate/chest rig.

Have you considered a Tippmann M4?

Excellent reliability out of the box after some tweaks. Cheap Co2 magazines which allow you to shoot 60+ shots per magazine. Lots of noise and recoil. Capable of switching between Co2 in magazines to Co2 or HPA in a bulk tank using a remote line. Takes AEG barrels, stocks and front ends.

Setting aside whether something can be reliable "out of the box after some tweaks" (either it doesn't need the tweaks and it is reliable out-of-the-box, or it does need the tweaks and therefore isn't reliable out-of-the-box), the Tippmann isn't a competitor against traditional GIM GBBRs. Shot-to-shot consistency when using the CO2 bulbs is poor, the magazines vent when you eject them regardless of how much gas is left in the capsule - which is simultaneously unrealistic, inconvenient and deeply wasteful - and the recoil is pretty weak, from what I've heard. The Tippmann is pitched as a cheaper alternative to other remote-line systems, which are enjoying a resurgence in the US - not so much against the pricey, hard-kicking, maintenance-intensive DaytonaGuns and other Escort-based systems, but against HPA-fed solenoid systems like the Polar* Fusion Engine, Wolverine SMP, and Valken V12. It would be a bit of a disappointment after a well-sorted WOC, I think.

Miserable recoil, though (that's not that different from the real 10/22, admittedly).

Touche.

I should have been more clear. Out of the box, the Tippmann requires that the user properly configure the gun's FPS and ROF. The fully automatic function in particular needs to be adjusted ("tweaked") to insure proper function.

Getting the gun to function reliably requires the user to read the manual and adjust some of the gun's settings if issues occur much the same way that Polarstar or Daytona Gun users need to make adjustments.

+2 for WE. especially open-bolt system. I have a 416 and a G36C as my primaries, and so far not any hint of trouble.

Only upgrades for me are NPAS (to get the FPS at legal limit) and a new hop rubber (standard ones are poo).

Does the Tippman puncture the co2 cart when the mag is inserted? If so, using a refillable cart eliminates the venting co2 problem as it has a valve.

Watched a video of the operation so the above is a fact. Venting solved for those choosing to power the gun with 12g carts.
