I'm not holding a gun to your head and forcing you to converse with me. If you don't want to reply to me then don't reply. Don't feel any requirement to justify yourself to me. Seriously though there is no point in replying to me if you are going to complain about the fact you did later on.

You can, just not anything fancy like ARs or handguns. Finding ammo there is a sonuvabitch too, as is finding a place to shoot.

nope, nope, and nope.

 

AR's (and other "scary assault rifles") can be had for target or vermin use in a "straight pull" configuaration..where you rack the bolt each shot. a pain, but we still get some sexy rifles.. no restriction on mag capacity either.. more than you can say? ;) and we get silencers without jumping through hoops..

handguns can also be had, (ok, not for defence or compact sized, unless you are a polititian) the rest of us can have them as long as the barrel is more than 12", with an OAL of 24", achieved using a counter weight or wrist brace, no problems getting ammo, and we have plenty of places to shoot, trust me. ;)

 

 

back on topic- ive only really used the vert grip on my AIMS, and find that even if i do slip into the "way of holding that shall not be mentioned" it seems most natural to do the "pointing down the barrel with my thumb" hold.. its the most comfy, and seems the most stable to me?

To answer the original question, I find my grip is always evolving. I found, soon after I started softing, before I even know about these boards, that a VFC was simply the most comfortable for my lanky build. I started with a full grip on a short carbine, close to the magwell. As I moved to midlength carbines/foregrips, i found it more comfortable to move the vfg out and half grip it (believe it or not after seeing pictures of real operators on the interwebs). I tried it at games, and found it very comfortable and stable, through not as easy to bring the rifle to bear. So then I started naturally gripping the magwell(in much the same way as I grip a VFG, half on the receiver, half on the foregrip) in intense situations where one would be constantly moving the rifle from a ready position to a shooting one, making it much quicker, easier and more comfortable to do so. Then I watched some of the dynamics stuff and tried the "costa"/ "three-gun" style grip. Tried it, whilst it was very stable indeed, it simply wasn't comfortable for long lengths of time, especially in wooded areas and long outdoor games, ones wrist and arm muscles simply becomes to taxed in my experience, so I switched back to my normal grip, the comfortable + stable half grip for carrying the gun, long periods of shouldering and maintaining watch, etc and the half-magwell grip for rapid weapon maneuvering.

 

Now, this is what works for my body (as does the miad and sopmod/emod/acs style stock with an angled cheeckweld area thing :P ) and my playstyle. Whilst I certainly see the merit of the costa grip that many of today's top trainers practice (its not just costa, Pat Rodgers and many others do so too) I certainly don't think it is something you can just drag and drop into long airsoft games very dissimilar in needs to RS shooting, but thats my opinion based on what I've tried in game. I'm sure it would be useful in mout, cqb, etc.

 

My only advise to all you magpul and whatever haters and fanboys is that you KEEP AN OPEN MIND. This is what people like costa tell you to do (regardless of whether the masses follow it <_< ), and it certainly helps in making you a better playing and further enjoying both the game and the vast resources available to us on the internet. Maybe you like LE stocks, but I find them uncomfortable, so I tried modern stuff, like the EMOD and CTR and I lived them both from a comfort, looks and durability standpoint. I never found anything wrong with my KAC style broomhandle, but after trying some TD stubbys, I love the thicker grip near the handguard and as such will be making the switch shortly. Many of the R-S companies release things of actual merit, and I personally believe that they are worth trying out, as you might just find that you like the way something works, even if you think it is unnecessary.

 

I'm sure int he next few years there'll be a new "fad" and I'll be sure to try that out to and take from it what I like ^_^

Anyway, on topic.

 

I used to have a VFG, held it full grip, then I cut it down and held it thumb break, then I gave it away and just held the magwell, cause I found I could keep the elbows tucked in better.

 

I don't need to worrk about stability for long range targets, recoil control, or feeding issues... Because this is airsoft.

You can't say that. Didn't you know the purpose of the internet (apart from porn) is to argue over trivial stuff as if it's life or death

 

Meanwhile back on topic: I have a couple of aegs with VFGs and I hold them full grip and as thats what I find most comfortable, if someone dosn't like it then tough. But then again I'm the sort of person who puts a c mag on an MP5K just to wind up the geardos

I hold my gun. With my hands. However the hell they fall at whatever particular time is of no concern to me - Sometimes it's the full grip, sometimes half, sometimes i use my erect member to support the barrel. It depends how i'm feeling at the time, really.

 

 

I have a VFG on one of my guns because it looks cool, and sometimes it's easier to grip that way. Almost entirely though, i purchased it because it looks cool.
