SLR 8" SBR build done. Just waiting for a few accessories (sling end plate, AAC Blast Shield, Cloud Defensive LCS, and an actual working ScoutLight head) and repairing my BTC Spectre, but otherwise al

One of my latest build, a real Colt M16A1 converted for GBBR on the WA system. Stripped upper, barrel and BCG was changed to Viper Tech du to my local laws. Also a video of how it was made:

Hey all! I kind of stumbled upon this thread by accident while searching for M16A2 receiver markings on google and saw one of Catgut's amazing VT's. Which brought me here I have been working on

It does, yes - To a certain degree. I need to test it when it's brighter outside, but what mine does, is it (On a cloudy day) requires the battery to function, but when I take it outside it's like the solar cell takes over to a degree. The red dot gets brighter and becomes super visible.

The King Arms red dot I've got, by comparison, is pants outside. I'll try and take some comparison pics :)

If you want it straight from the chinese supplier's mouth,

Not sure if this works for replica, real one should be able to turn on without battery in a sunny day.

The real one actually doesn't allow you to turn on the sight without a battery which is kind of a killer for me. Trijicon states that a battery is needed to power up the unit and after it is on then the battery can be removed and the unit can run on solar if needed.

some tests were done on arfcom to see if the cells would actually charge a battery and those were found to be inconclusive as well, basically the solar just extends the battery life. I ended up selling mine since it didn't really do more for the couple hundreds of dollars compared to other competing optics

Wow, didn't know that, too bad it can't run without battery but I still love the monster big lens with tiny dot :D
