Looks like this hasn't been posted here yet, so here goes:

From Airsoftnews.eu:

Star Rainbow Company: MP5

OK, enough with news from stores. Whistler from Star Rainbow Company sent in news about their upcoming replica - MP5 with stamped steel receiver. Details when available, click to supersize.

Also, trial by Toyota!

*wishing for a G3 made in the same way*

I'm curious if it's going to have the stupid TM-style hopup or the G&G style. If it's the latter, I'll probably get one in the not-too-distant future.

looks like the latter to me, otherwise it wouldn't have the open ejection port and it would have some sort of mounting-hardware for that external adjusting-arm that the TM-style has.

I'm not really that into MP5's so I most likely won't get this one myself, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.

Maybe, just maybe, if I can't get someone to buy my Escort MP5, I'll get this and put the internals into it - if possible.

'Cause steel is always nice :)

I always thought escort MP5's are folded steel?

sweet. now wanting G3 receiver. Ha ha, yeah just the other day I was thinking about how the cost of airsoft metal bodies (specifically for the G3) cost as much as a real steel G3 receiver flat and wondering why people have not yet made steel bodies. Though for the MP5 and/or G3 I'd want the body and cocking tube to be welded together. I won't ask for too much at once. Nice find and I am curious to see how this turns out.

This is great. Got myself a G&G Mp5a4 and I broke the tab where it connects to the cocking tube in like...er.... 3 days. Too much H&K slapping. Man was I annoyed :headbutt:

Once this is available, Im grabbing one and throwing away my G&G one.... stupid G&G....

whats wrong with the TM hop? is the G&G one like the CA?

it's a stupid lever located above the handguard which is easily knocked out of place, while G&G, new cyma and i think CA (dont quote me on that one though) have the hop up adjustment behind the ejection port like most other designs.

regarding whether it's necessary or not, true, it's not really essential. but on the other hand it caters for those who like a bit more realism.

Finaly! A gun i can drive over with my car... Or is it toyotas only? Did that to an old Famas some time back with a H2. Kinda shows how airsoft has evolved.

Stupidity aside. Finaly a MP5 that lasts, SRC guns seem quite rare, but they are nice. Still miss my XM8

Wow, that's interesting for sure. I'm with others in crossing my fingers that they make a G3 with stamped steel so maybe, just maybe, it won't snap like I've seen countless CA's do or even some JG's.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the real Mp5 use some sort of aluminum alloy similar to the M16? I never really was into them, so I might be wrong.

I couldn't break my old Galaxy MP5's plastic body (okay, so the rest of it was pretty much broke... but not that body!) and my mate never snapped his ICS metal body... so this stamped steel really is a requirement :)

Oh trust me, the Galaxy plastic body breaks. But it epoxies back together quite nicely!

Basically they take a piece of steel sheet, put it between forms and force it into shape it in a hydraulic press. Modern AK's are also made this way.

Older AK's and some current clones are "milled", which means they take piece of steel and remove material with a milling machine. Quite often they start with a rough piece (which may be cast or forged) so they don't have to dig out the shape out of a whole billet.

AR-15's have aluminum receivers. They start with a rough forged piece and finish it with milling machines.

There's more to it but that's the short story.

Really now.... I've broken two ICS metal bodies, and neither were abused/fallen on/stressed, AT ALL.

They ALL snap sooner or later at the join in the cocking tube and body.
