The Crunchy Bunny
My AIM is about 88% finished. I temporeraly fixed the stock, until my Dad buys a dremel so I can mod my RS stock. I think it turned out pretty cool. I tried something a little different, It's got a little two tone thing goin' on. I want to get a black stock so then I have wood and black furniture. justin.kovacs
Looks like the flash hider is crooked.....
The Crunchy Bunny
It's supposed to be that way, becasue when fired, aK's tend to raise up and to the right, the flashider being cocked in such a way reduces that problem.
justin.kovacs
I've always seen them installed with the extended portion directly on the bottom. To keep the "Raise Up" effect minimized. Come to think of it. I've never even seen real steel AK's with the slanted muzzle brake crooked like that. While in Iraq and Afghanistan, I saw hundreds of AK-47's, AK-74's and RPK's and never once seen the slanted muzzle brake type twisted like that. Involved6
Nor have I ever seen that. I have always seen them straight "up and down" The only gun I'm aware of with a left-to-right pull that severe is the M3 Grease Gun Edited June 10, 2008 by Involved6
The Crunchy Bunny
If you look at RS slant cut muzzle breaks, the notch where the pin on the front sight would lock the muzzle break down is off center to.
PlasticMag
They're supposed to be installed that way as originally designed, but life happens, and parts wear or fall off and the compensator rotates, or people don't know how to install them.

GrimGram
AKM I fired during the "Get to know foreign weapon systems" period of my military service had the twisted "flash hider".

paulioc3
Is that a tan P90 body or is it a custom paint job? Looks very interesting, like it alot better than the standard "greyish" bodies on the TR standard

colwombat
Kinda late to the party, but Cruchy is right. My M70B1 (RS) has an angled flashhider. You can see in the second shot the notch meant to hold it at an angle.
