davedawg123
Actually, I jumped it a bit. I'd probably pay even less than $250, being the stingy guy that I am. 512 auctions generally go for about $300-330, so I'd imagine $275 would be about average for a 511. The key is to wait for the "buy it now" items.

So I thought that landing a LNIB 511 for under 300 would be a deal. Edited October 12, 2006 by willnyc
davedawg123
It is a good deal, depending upon how much you are willing to spend. I was looking to get a 512 for $250-$275 when I got my practically new 552 rev F for the same price.
Tek-Spec
Eotechs are awesome, now that i have one i would never go back to replicas. I would really love a 511 or 551 now, like little baby eotechs (eyes up KWPs) Â Heres my 552 nvc rev F Â Edited October 12, 2006 by Tek-Spec

There's no such thing as being ripped off, remember this.

Looks like a piece of the upper and lower rails were cut off and the front sight attached to the barrel or is it a part of the RAS?

trfo2o
my god, 3 eotechs and one of them is a 553?! I envy you.
BigAl
Whats is that big lumpy 553? i.e. whats differant about it to other slimmer models?
amateurstuntman
iirc it has quick release mounts and runs on CR123A batteries which are a little chunkier than the others. Â Stunt
trfo2o
good review of the 553 on this page: Â scroll down sort of halfway through the page till you come along the tan 553. http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/ar.optics.html
Titleist
Still if you read the review Cal at MM doesn't make it sound like there's a whole lot of new features, especially since you can get a .25" riser from LaRue. I keep saying it, but I bet you'll see these drop in price soon, right now you're getting jacked because it's in limited supply and NEW!
darkchild130
agreed, my first Eotech is going to be a 553 but ill be damned if im paying £300 for it!  Darkchild
SilentScope
I'm p!ssed that they went with ARMS throw levers as apposed to LaRue, they are absolutely inferior and I would never buy one for a real gun. I'll still get a tan one for airsoft when they decide they are ready to release it.
Titleist
Don't get me wrong, I want a tan one for the VFC SCAR, but right now 500+ for a scope that offers no optical upgrades over a 250-330 dollar scope is absurd.
Sparky2129
"If LaRue is an option, LaRue is the answer." Get the 553 for "Cool Guy" factor, the EOTech 552 in a LaRue mount has longer battery life, a superior mount, and readily available (and cheaper) batteries. Oh and the 552 + LaRue mount is cheaper than the 553. It's a win-win situation.
Titleist
Sparky nailed it. Â The 553 is that "oooh it's special, it must be cool" but the reviews I hear from soldiers in the field are that of "meh". It's not bad but it's not in anyway really that much better. It's cool looking, but for the price it's way jacked.
Batou-san
why get a tan 553 just because its tan? Is it too much of a task to paint one of the other models tan?
Sparky2129
Better, Brighter, Pictures With the LaRue mount, you get a solid QD platform that also acts as a riser, keeps the irons in the lower 1/3 of the window. Perfect
darkchild130
with the 553 we gotta think about the point of its existence. Its not meant to wow people with amazing new features, its merely just an evolution of the current design in conjunction with the SOPMOD block 2 package. Â it might not be amazingly different but I like it. Â Darkchild
