Forum updates, feedback system and new versions

    By Arnie

Firstly I'm going to try to document forum updates and other work completed to the site here in my forum blog. This will keep all the forum related updates in one place.   I've completed several updates to the forums today. We're now running the latest IPS versions for Gallery and Blog. There should be several bug fixes and feature adjustments with these new versions; I don't get a list I'm afraid or I'd publish it.   I've also taken comments on the trading system on board and we now have a

Polite welcome back?

Well I dunno, been off Arnies and the airsoft scene in general for almost a year thought i'd come back on here (re)introduce myself only to be accused of being some random in disguise (kidscotland?) and then have the thread locked. Bloody charming   Update: Ok after speaking to a member on here turns out this KS was a bit special and had a thing for dramatic 'i'm back' returns, after seeing his posts I was linked to I find it rather embarrassing to be put in the same boat as that chump.

Sequel To The Prequel

Can't believe it's been a whole month already. The shortest month in the year, but still several weeks...   I've not done everything I wanted as far as fun airsoft stuff goes, but I made a little headway with my planned projects (and a little with some unplanned ones, too).   I did buy and install the quite nice CA MP5SD front assembly, and I'm pretty glad I did. The gun is far from quiet as far as suppressed AEGs go (in fact less quiet even than with the standard end and a KA suppress

Various Projects

Hey,   Its been a while since I added any new entries.   I've been thinking of some possible projects but I usually don't have the tools, funds, or time to do them.   One project that I've been on again off again with is an airsoft SKS. I plan on making it gas and blowback. Though, I also thought of using MagnumBB's M14 NBB kit. Stocks are fairly priced and parts (bolt carriers, receiver covers) are easy to find. Though, I might use an Albanian SKS stock just for looks.   Anoth

Projects!

Well, it's been almost a year since I took a look at this. I'm not sure what happened, but lately I just feel like writing something down (And not the BS that I usually write. Y'know, the stuff that's involuntary.).   Picking up where I left off with my last entry, almost all of my old airsoft stuff is gone. Besides my Skorpion and a few cheap guns, I have all relatively new stuff. Everything was bought second-hand, so I guess it's not truly new but it's new to me and for the most part so

Here it is....

I'll the the pics speak for themselves....     I tried a set of cocking handle that uses the mounting base for the Marui Bomar, but since I had the C-More mounted by a gunsmith before I got the cocking handle, the space underneath the C-more is not enough for the stock sight. I'll have to get another cocking handle(maybe the ProG4) that fits flush to the profile of the slide...   The gun is not zeroed or tuned yet. Test fired today and chronoed 370fps using .20g an

Quick Update

The word from my parts vendor is that he has received the custom parts from ProG4, and that I should get them in my hands sometime next week. This along with the C-More sight that I am getting professionally mounted should also be here sometime next week. So I am hopeful by the weekend that I can have this gun put together and start finetuning and testing....I've gotten hold of most of my internal parts at this time....so it should be fairly straight forward from that point on....

Computer Gaming/Airsoft worlds, Can they be working together?

I posted this up on the forums earlier then I realised that it was good blog material too, since it is a querky little thing that I am sure other people have also thought about themselves.   I know that the Airsoft world and the Gaming world are entirely separate. But I think that since there is an amazing coincidental parallelity between what guns are on CallOfDuty and which models are produced in airsoft (e.g. Stg44/COD5). So perhaps we should all go to them with our ideas.   All those

Small Update: Grip Tape and Slide Catch

So the project is progressing nicely.....today saw the arrival of TruGrip pre-cut grip tape. For $30 you get a pack of 5 and the application is simply cleaning the grip with alchohol wipe the package comes with to get rid of the oil from your hand, then peel off the backing of the tape and apply it by lining up the edge and stretching it slightly over to the other side. The texture is what I'd say being equivelent of ~150 grit sandpaper, but maybe slightly less sharp so you can use it alright w

Arrival of the Base Gun...and the sweeping changes...

The arrival of the Hi-Capa was an exciting affair. From eHobbyAsia, the gun came(with an easily removable orange tip), along with the upgraded springs I ordered as well...       Didn't bother to test fire it and soon get down to business. My previous Hi-Capa was a used gun, and I'd imagine there might have been some revision to the design over the years. And sure enough I did find a difference. With my SV kit I've noticed that the slide sits further forward then it supposed to. Wit

AK-elites and Armash!tes, Which is better?

This week's Question: The battle between Ak-elites Vs Arma-guys, what's that all about?   Well, this weeks blog goes out to all those newbs who have come across this bitchy phenomenon whilst snooping around on the boards. Basically what we're talking about here is the battle between those airsofters who adore Kalashnikov guns and those who get hard over Armalites. Both these sides are battling out the big question; which is better: AKs or Armalites?   In airsoft, as in the real steel wor

Opening Entry: The start of my new project...

Well isn't airsoft wonderful, it eats away your soul while draining your wallet like no other.....   As parts starting to come in I figure I might as well make a blog of it to log my progress and try to keep track of where this might be going.   The premise is simple, an open-class IPSC style racer based on a TM Hi-Capa 5.1. Doesn't sound that different from many who have gone through the same project, and I don't think it'll be that different. But hopefully as with my 1911 and my Infinit

Over one year later...

Well, I guess it is slightly obvious I forgot all about this blog.   It's a Sunday, I'm not really doing a whole lot, so I figured why not make an update entry of what I've been up to since the last entry. I love Bank Hol weekends !   Lets see...   The 07 GZ weekender was an interesting and fun weekend. I haven't made it there this year unfortunately but it looked to be even bigger than the last player wise.   I finally got the hassle with my written off Honda Prelude sorted in Novem

More parts, more problems.

More parts came in for various projects. First up is the Vickers Tactical mag catch for KSC Glocks. Made by TangoDown the things i pretty much indestructible. Easy drop in fitment (unlike some airsoft pieces) and it has a nice beveled pad which just feels better, as well as a slight extension to aid in actuation. Pretty cheap too ($15).   Stock:     Vickers Tactical:     I still have a two-tone BoomArms Schuey slide for this sucker but I am far too lazy to actually get aroun

Fixing stuff feels good.

Maybe it's a male thing or maybe it stems from insecurity but I always get a kick from fixing stuff. Properly.   I've been wanting to fit some fancy new headlights on my BMW for ages and I bought a set but was disappointed by the quality of them. I aborted the operation but, during a trip to a scrap yard, I spotted a set of damaged BMW headlights and I bought them with the intention of combining the good bits of the fancy new headlights with the quality of the original BMW units. This too

AWOL

For the past month or so I've had very little time to get anything done airsoft wise unfortunately as Im working away from home at the moment. Im away during the week but travel back on Friday nights and leave again on Sunday afternoons which doesn't leave much time for anything really! My TM Springfield project has more or less come to a halt as a result but I have purchased a PDI SFA hammer and a PDI SFA outer barrel recently to finish the pistol off. Along with the 'real steel' SFA GI grips

Stippling, new customer projects, and 470+ fps.

So I have continued to stipple pretty regularly. Tried my hand at a Glock grip, looks OK, but could be better.   KWA G26C Grip:     I also have a new client build in the process of arriving. Built from a Dual Tone Hi Capa 4.3, I am excited to see how it turns out. He is going to run an Airsoft Surgeon slide (which is very nice, high quality, and build) and full internals. Actually a very nice build in the end even though it was pitched as a "light" build. Lucky for him he could

WA M4 CQBR - Finally arrived.

The really good news for me is that my WA M4 finally showed up and I must say it is amazing. I love the sheit out of it. I know there has been a lot of talk about the weakness's with the internals, and I know it isn't a skirmish ready gun out of the box, but I never expected it to be so I am happy. The recoil action and sound are more than I imagined and put a smile on my face time and time again. Mine probably has less than 1K rounds through it, but other than the ejection port latch fallin

Stippling and Customer Builds

Man it has been a very long time since I have written anything in this thing. While it seems like not much has happened I have been steadily toiling away at this thing we call airsoft and I have made some steps forward I do believe.   First up has to be the fact that I finally broke out of my laziness and broke out the Dremel Soddering Iron and actually tried my hand at some stippling. First try was a little shaky, but in the end I think it came out decently. It actually looks much better
