uscmCorps
How are the SocomGear 1911's? Are they just rebranded WE's? Are they accurate? Reliable? Robust?
RacingManiac
They are WE....so all the caveat applies.....
uscmCorps
Hmmm ... then I'll pass. Shame, as they had some nice looking variants I was interested in.
RacingManiac
You have that nice RW Nighthawk, anything else will be kinda meh...

Horsem4n
the new Les Baer 1911 coming from SG is a KJW. i know the rest are all WE for now, but at least SG are breaking the mold with KJW to get some better quality 1911s. Edited November 9, 2011 by Horsem4n
RacingManiac
If not better quality, at least TM compatible...
Horsem4n
definitely. i still wonder why WE changed the design. Edited November 9, 2011 by Horsem4n
RacingManiac
I think their 1911 predates TM's.....They copied the Hi-Capa then applied it to a single-stack, then TM came out with their own design...
Frykis
I've had WE MEU before and allthou I haven't used the Socom that much yet it feels sturdier and smoother.
MrManiac
SocomGear are supposed to fit upgraded valves and springs to WE pistols but ive yet to work on one that has. Glad to see though they are swapping to KJW. Totally TM compatible as 'RacingManiac' says. Pity their Les Baer isnt based on a REAL Les Baer varient, Ultimate recon?? They should have called it the 'Custom Carry' then it would have been right. Mind you its nice to see an airsoft Les Baer at all!
Jimmypie
a quick question , do real steel 1911 grips fit the stock TM frames ok? i quite like the look of some pachmyer/hogue wraparound types. Also id like some nice grips for one of my TM Detonics, what would i be looking for? as in size or model? feel free to pm me to save clogging the thread too much. regards, Jimmy. FireKnife
As for the Detonics you need specific grips as it isn't the same size as Officer, however you can get Pachmyars also RSOV do Hornbill wood ones. 'FireKnife'

Frykis
Thanks. Now I just need a gun to do that with... It looks awsome!
WhiteHawksan
plane jane Detnoics, but with RSOV's 'Hornbill' Wooden grips, they're fantastic for the price, I was going to stain mine, but they came as a lovely colour. Chequering is nice and deep too.

spetsnazdave87
Stuck some real hogues on my LA Vickers custom. Very happy with the result, fits easier in my big mitts now. Edited November 15, 2011 by spetsnazdave87
mimesis
Hogues look great. Photo: does the paint on the pistol really have that granular quality, almost identical to the plastic on the case it's sitting on? When I look closely, both also seem to have a kind of irridescent quality (hits of green, blue and purple).
spetsnazdave87
I think it's just because my iphone camera has the photographic ability of a baked potato.... It's a nova kit, very nice finish in person- doesn't really resemble the case at all. Just waiting on a VFC 310 and safariland for it
