Forum updates, feedback system and new versions

    By Arnie

Firstly I'm going to try to document forum updates and other work completed to the site here in my forum blog. This will keep all the forum related updates in one place.   I've completed several updates to the forums today. We're now running the latest IPS versions for Gallery and Blog. There should be several bug fixes and feature adjustments with these new versions; I don't get a list I'm afraid or I'd publish it.   I've also taken comments on the trading system on board and we now have a

Fan Fic

Here is a Halo based Fan Fic I wrote, hope you enjoy!   0754 Hours, July 27, 2532 (Military Calendar) Crash Site Zero Area Foxtrot Two Two   The rain was falling ever so slightly; the recovery team was sifting through the searing crater. A cold wind howled through the valley, and the trees rustled with life, although there was no sign of it here.   "Sir I found something over here!"   Lieutenant Combs looked up for a moment at the Marine, noticing the burnished object i

What Pistols are people reading about?

Anyone who knows me through the forums will know I run the JustPistols website.   One interesting aspect of doing so is that it gives me an insight (to a degree) into which pistols people are interested in reading about.   Although the free web stats system I use (addfreestats) is a little flawed, the following are the top 11 reviews so far this year (end of May) based on page visits.   TM Glock 17 Tanaka Super Redhawk (Suspicious) TM 1911A1 Tanaka Luger TM Desert Eagle Hardkick

It's been over two months since my last entry. Not really sure why I haven't updated, just too lazy I guess. A bit's gone on in the past 60 days, though nothing really more interesting than what I usually post. About the title: It's surprisingly difficult coming up with a smart and interest-grabbing blog title, so leave me alone!   Relating to airsoft, not a whole lot has happened. I sold off a large portion of my collection, though I still have a pretty decent amount of stuff left. I a

Have you all given up?

It seems in my absence that, despite 7 months with no entries, I still seem to reign supreme in Arnies blogland. According to all the numbers, anyway, which can hardly be denied. And anyway what happened to GR and Hardcore Mitsuko (is this a sensitive topic...?) as I coudln't even see their blog up here. I know it's not all that important, but is the large amount of traffic on my blog (Versive) taken directly from Arnies - I would hope not.   Yet still I seem to be on top - by a huge margi

At Last

Well UN Company finally shipped the correct Springfield frame to me and on Tuesday I began my first attempt at fitting a full metal kit. To be honest I was pretty nervous about the whole thing as its a pretty expensive kit to *fruitcage* up but I took my time and thought about every step and it actually went a lot better than I thought. I had to trim the leaf spring slightly as expected but this took a bit of time for the simple reason that my files are rubbish (I must invest in a decent set

Why won't my M4 show up?!

I finally secured my latest project, actually I just had parts lying around that needed a gun to add to.   KSC Glock 19 Deep Blue PDI 6.01mm Tight Bore PGC Hi Flow Valve KM Stainless Recoil Guide Rod & Recoil Spring   Very light tune. I actually have a BoomArms slide for it, but the thing is bothering me since the outer barrel legs don't fit the slide....incredibly annoying. I haven't the patience to work on it right now, so I am rocking the ABS slide for now. The Deep Blue

Sample post 2: Parties, People, Tattoos and Glory.

From http://versive.blog.co.uk here is the second of the samples I'm giving to you lovely lot - swear words allowed on my blog may be hashed out, or may just be fruitcaged - I hope those bits don't get totally cut out thiough because some of them are rather relevant. We shall see.   -   I should be on a boat touring the local islands right now, but I valium'ed and slept in. P90 Mosfet Mod

Hello and welcome to my Blog,   Since I have a lot of free time on my hands lately, I've decided to tweak my P90, work with other electronic projects, and make use of this blog.   Yesterday, I finished completing my first Mosfet project with promising results. It was mainly a quick, messy bodge job. I could have used some PC board after all.   The Mosfet seems to function properly, but with only 2 or 3 malfunctions. This was most likely due to a short at the negative lead of the mot

Stupid Day

Today is a special day.   Amongt the landslide of sh*te that makes up the thankless task of moderating an internet forum it's often difficult to tell the very bad from the absolutely awful. Today, however, through the concentrated efforts of a number of induhviduals, manages to stant head and shoulders above the usual pit of dross and, thus, May 8th will forever more be known as Stupid Day, in honour of those that gave so many of their remaining brain cells to make the rest of us laugh. The Results Are In!

In my previous blog I discussed the trouble I was having with my recently installed Creation slide on my KSC Glock 17. Thankfully the uprgade parts I had ordered from Un Company have now resolved all the issues I was having. Prior to installing these parts I had managed to get the pistol operating properly but it definitely wasn't performing at peak performance, I was finding that the slide was locking back but recoil was a bit sluggish and the power seemed to vary quite a bit, I presume the

My First Love

I have been spending a fair bit of time recently concentrating on my AEG and gathering up all the bits and pieces required to start skirmishing (damn you VCRA) but last week I made the decision that I was going to concentrate more time on my first love...GBBs. In the past I have bought many GBBs of various shapes and sizes but I have never made much of an effort to upgrade them in any way. The main reason for this is I have always doubted my ability to do these kind of things properly and my w

Some build wrap ups.

I know I mentioned a huge (in terms of parts, and quality of the parts) build for a client, another PGC TM 1911. It came out perfectly. I was impressed with both the KM and most especially the Nova parts that he chose to use. Just a quality standard A1 1911. Really my favorite type, and with good parts choices, my favorite to shoot as well. It really turned out amazingly well:   TM 1911 TM mags 5x PGC colt version PGC rear sight PDI tightbore 6.01mm PDI MIL-SPEC Hammer PDI Pa

What's next?

Some friends are in for a visit:   WA SVI Std (Magna) - Rebuild and tuning WE Para - Tuning KWA M1911A1 Full Metal - Review and let me tell you this is one good gun. Never say WE again     SD Floating Valve SD POM Loading Nozzle     The SD loading nozzle was purchased from UNCompany, but the loading nozzle has a Dentrinity part number on it....leads me to believe that I am partly correct and Dentrinity and Shooters Design are very close.   So I am going to rebuild the

Messing around with spare parts

So I had this vision of my TM SVI, with silver controls, and a red grip. So I went out and bought a "red" WE grip and was all set to pull my dual tone controls for the race gun and see what was up. BUT then I got caught up in a selling spree, and well the SVI just seemed to naturally hit the chopping block.   But before I let it go (anyone?) or I at least rebuild it as something brand new, I thought I would mock up exactly how it would have looked (minus the custom stippling work), and here

Lots of good stuff, some bad...

Almost another three weeks have past since my last update, and although a lot of stuff has gone on, I don't have too much to add.   First, I did buy that bass guitar. It's a Fender Squier J Bass, which was part of a package that included "everything I needed to get started." Basically it was just about everything I needed; an amp, a tuner, a strap, a cable, a DVD, and a bag (for the guitar, obviously). Even though I went in the music store with the intention to buy a book and just look, th

Realism vs Fantasy

As I mentioned in my previous entry, after several years of collecting GBBs I purchased my first AEG just prior to 1st October 2007. Strangely enough however I didn't actually fire my new rifle until January 2008! Due to work commitments my rifle lay in its box for several months but during this time I began the airsofters favourite pastime of upgrading and customising my gun. Its crazy how after spending several hundred pounds on a gun we then go on to spend easily double the value of the g

This is going to be dire, so if you don't really care, don't read this....   I think i may possibly have the lowest self esteem a human being can possess... Introducing...

When I get bored I often think I should take advantage of the blog feature here at Arnies but then I think "who would want to read what Im doing?" Well I suppose were going to find out. From a young age I have been around guns of some sort as it is pretty much a favourite family pastime. All my uncles own shotguns and air rifles of some kind. I actually have an uncle who shoots clay pigeons for Ireland and it was him that give me the shooting bug! It all started at the back of my grannies ho

Maybe I'll get a guitar?

Once again, I feel that I'm wasting my life, doing nothing and not bettering myself. After what has to be done is done (well, the bare minimum, but I'm lazy and don't really feel like doing more...), I do the same stuff over and over again. After a while it becomes unfulfilling, and more importantly, less entertaining. So I was thinking of doing something I rarely ever even consider. I'm thinking about trying to commit to something completely new. I think I'm going to try to learn how to p

Not the best day.

We've had some bad weather last week here, which normally wouldn't bother me since I really didn't have any place to go.   Monday wasn't that bad. It was very windy at times, at a fine snow fell every once in a while which would make it impossible to see more than 50 feet. But again, I didn't have any place to be at the time this was going on. Firewood needed to be brought in, but since I was only out there very briefly and then came inside, it wasn't bad.   Tuesday wasn't the worst day

A little WA Beretta work, decided on my new project.

Took a few sunny shots of the Creation Sig. Interestingly enough since I have completed it, it has been through two owners, now waiting for word back on the third. Man this thing has changed hands like nothing before. I don't even know who is going to end up with it.     I managed to source a Prime slide for my Beretta. Unfortunately it is black, while my gun (well both of them) are INOX. Shame, but who can turn down a metal slide so you can run green through a WA Beretta? I don'
