thought I should get round to posting my real-steel rig. It's done me proud with 12 months op service in the sandbox (hence the weathered look). It may not have all the bells and whistles that some of these rigs have but it works!

How do the chest rig and plate stay together when it's being worn?

Its held with velcro onto the chest rig, though I think you also have to velcro it to a soft armor vest as well, to keep it rigid. I don't know if there is a pocket to keep it in place...

There is a row of hook on the front side of the inner compartment, and the back of the compartment is covered with loop. Its a pretty deep pocket, too, so you may not need to have it velcro'd anywhere else.

 

Of course, it may not be a real SAPI and wouldn't be very heavy anyway

I did the same thing with a replica Eagle Universal Chest Rig & replica SAPI, wasnt even a velco lined pocket and I still had no problems.

 

As long as the chest rig is tight, you shouldnt have any problems.

Here's me in my younger days, doing some live firing as SOF in N.I before they ended the OP.

 

 

Its an old style British army chest rig. Im gutted i sold it after that tour
