  1. Hey all! I kind of stumbled upon this thread by accident while searching for M16A2 receiver markings on google and saw one of Catgut's amazing VT's. Which brought me here I have been working on a Viper Tech M723 "Operation Gothic Serpent" clone for a while now and just recently got a more period correct carry handle scope mount installed than my previous A.R.M.S. #02 repro. This was a MGW Weaver mount that I bought from Brownells EU that turned out to be slightly too wide for my Viper Tech carry handle "gutter" and needed som fitting. Luckily I know a gunsmith and I took it to his shop j

  3. Something a bit different: WE M14 (with Ra-Tech trigger group) inside a realsteel TROY S.A.S.S. (Semi Automatic Sniper System) chassis. Very nice high-end chassis, CNC aluminum, the M14 needs a few adjustments, the trigger box doesn't fit in flawlessly yet. Will see how to fix that.

  8. Family pic, let's call this "evolution of old school Armalite replica models" Can post detail pics, if anyone's interested, just let me know. Left to right: - MGC M16A1 modelgun 1st Gen, late 60s, full metal, not entirely accurate replica, has that famous screw holding together upper and lower instead of a forward assist, internally completely different than a real AR - MGC XM177E2 modelgun 1st Gen, same series as the M16A1 - MGC M16/CP (M16A1), PFC modelgun, probably early 80s, a lot of plastic on this one and no authentic markings, but otherwise faithful copy

  12. I’m not sure how to open this thread up, it refers to some news that hit this community years ago, as well as myself. I should introduce myself; I’m Killbucket’s niece. I want to reach out first and say thank you for allowing me to find his forum posts, thank you for not deleting them. It has driven me to tears being able to see some form of my uncle’s digital footprint. Second, if the person who reached out to me years ago to deliver this news is reading my post, thank you, I know it wasn’t easy, but thank you, you did the right thing. Third, I want to know if anyone has the CNC desi

  19. Collecting for quite a while now, still happy as a child, when I get my hands on something rare - in this case, the happyness is accompanied by something like awe, as it doesn't get much rarer than this Tanaka Colt SAA Casyopea (which already is rare as hell in and of itself, as these were banned in Japan together with their Casyopea counterpart, the S&W M500) with a Prime CNC Brass Kit (possibly the only brass kit for Casyopea in existence, either a mod of a Pegasus brass kit, or Prime has begun to build one of these, but stopped when the Casyopeas were banned in Japan). 21. Time for another build, this time the polar opposite of last year's. I'm looking to replicate a LaFrance Specialties M16K, a weird ultra-compact AR variant designed in the 1980s. Tim LaFrance intended for it to be used by combat vehicle crews or for shooting through the windows of a police cruiser, but the only success it ever saw was showing up in a couple of movies and shows (including Naked Gun 33 1/3, Miami Vice, and Escape From LA). Basically, it's what today we would call an AR pistol, using an 8-3/8" barrel. However, there are two funky things about it. First, it use

  27. Hopefully this isn’t heresy, here’s my latest DMR build. KJ Works KC02, gutted and refitted with Rogueworx internals. Stuck in a Samson B-TM stock and given a custom turned tapered outer barrel. Run on the HPA adaptor at 170psi it makes a great noise with the steel bolt installed. In the pictures is an Alu bolt that I’ve got set up for slightly lower DMR power rules (1.8j vs 1.5j)

  28. Well, a few updates. First, I got the handguard cap from Shapeways, and... it doesn't fit! The cap is undersized by about 3.5%. This is apparently pretty typical for the 'steel' (sintered, bronze-infused) process, and is within their stated spec. So... I've upscaled the file a bit, made some tweaks, and ordered it again. If this one fails too, I'm abandoning Shapeways and will just use a resin print, since it seems the reinforcement I added is sufficient for durability. Second, I was a little annoyed by how different my moly resin finish looked from some of the examples I've seen on

  30. Oh yeah, forgot to post my last project here. Mafioso Hardballer Longslide (refinished with aluminum oxide blasting + polishing slide flats), Mafioso laser, real Weaver ring, real NPC mount, DIY pressure switch. Don't buy the Mafioso kit or laser, it's worth maybe a quarter of what they charge. I had to fix a bunch of stupid little things with this gun to make it usable, and the use of real mounts are solely because the Mafioso parts were hot garbage. On the bright side, since I've now reworked the laser to hold zero and mount with real-steel hardware, I was able to do

  32. I've been doing a little iteration on some Viper Tech builds. VT Colt 733, real A1E1/C7 upper receiver, real furniture and charging handle, muzzle shims in lieu of the anachronistic crush washer, and a front sling swivel. This combination of features gets it screen-accurate to the one used in the film Heat. Second, a Colt 727 upper for the same lower. This was built from VT barrel parts mounted to a real Rock River Arms A2 upper. Optic is an Aimpoint 3000 courtesy of eBay, and the sling is a DIY 'silent sling' setup styled after those used by SF in the 1990s. I also have an M203

I've made some changes to my rifles since the last time I posted any pictures so I though this was as good as an excuse as any to post some new ones You will see two replicas; a Viper Tech M16A2 (M703) with a real M203 heatshield/leaf sight, real A2 stock and a real A2 pistol grip combined with a G&P M203 underbarrel grenade launcher. The other one is a DNA M16A1 (M603) with a real USGI contract Aimpoint "gooseneck" scope mount, reproduction A2 handguards and a HWO Aimpoint M2 reproduction along with a real surplus M1 nylon web sling. 39. I never liked the tiny grip on the tt33, and real wraparound grios from various real tokarev variants dont really fit on the WE. So I designed my own. Theyre styled off of a couple of different kinds that are available out there with some features from here and there. Im including the stl files too for anyone who wants to try making some. They need to be fit in order to stay on without moving too much. Ive found the best way to do that is to soften the plastic on the underside of the grips with some acetone, then press them into place on the gun. That seems to produce a nice tight fi
