New and Improved Facebook Applications from Airbana

Airbana have updated their Facebook applications:

Airsoft Map App Improved
Airbana has released a new version of the Airsoft Map Facebook application which can be found here: https://apps.facebook.com/airsoftmap/ or searching for “Airsoft Map” in the Facebook search bar.

Just like the main website as much space as possible is dedicated to actually showing you information about the Airsoft Retailers and Skirmish sites near you.

Loading up a site by clicking on it’s map pin provides quick access to information such as the website, address, site features, upcoming events and it’s review score. If a site is a particular favorite of yours then clicking the ‘Tag as a Favorite’ button will do just that. Finally if you want to leave feedback about the site just click the ‘Add Review’ button then give the site a rating out of 5 and a quick review about the positive (or negative) aspects of the site.

All this can be done without having to leave facebook and the more sites you tag or review the better your chances of winning a share of the Spring Clean prizes which include a B&T GL06 Grenade Launcher, a Blackhawk Rucksack, BBs from ASG and BB Bastard, Gas from Abbey Solutions and more!

The app can also be installed to your Facebook page as a Page ‘Tab’ if you wanted. It can seen in action on the Airbana Page; https://www.facebook.com/AirbanaAirsoftMap

Site Info Tab for Site Operators and Retailers

<site info tab (this is the facebook icon so small on purpose)> I’ve also released a new application specifically for Site Operators and Retailers named the Airbana Site Info Tab ( http://apps.facebook.com/airsoftsiteinfotab/ ) which is a Facebook application that allows you to embed a whole chunk of information about one particular site from the Airbana Airsoft Map directly into a Facebook page.

After authorising the app, selecting a fan page and specifying which Site Details to display you will be able to show your location on a Google Map that includes street view, display and add reviews, show your address / contact details and even list or add upcoming events.

The Tab updates automatically whenever information is added or changed on www.AirsoftMap.net

Airbana UK Airsoft Map – Version 3 Launch 01/07/08

Gareth has sent in word that the new version of the Airbana Airsoft Map is now out:

I’ve revamped the design to make better use of the screen:

general_map_popup-300x225 welcome-300x225 date_add_success-300x225

You no longer need to signup to Add Sites, receive SMS’s or anything like that. Information such as your mobile number is stored on your local computer (cookies for those who care).

There is a lot more AJAX in the site now so it should feel a lot smoother and there is now an array of servers in the back end of things to keep it running fast.

The XMLRPC functionality is now complete so whenever someone clicks on the ‘Prices’ link for a site in Airbana the XMLRPC function will trigger and request http://yoururl/xmlrpc.php and render those prices straight into the Airbana interface ensuring you have the very latest prices on show! For those of you who don’t want to get involved in programming just use the Airbana XMLRPC Generator and upload it to your site!

I’ve put together a how-to that for the moment should whet your appetite for when the site goes fully live and help new users in the long run.

Version 3 also includes an Application Programming Interface which will allow you to expose / utilise Airbana Functionality on your own sites (or Desktop widgits / whatever). Version 3.1 of the API (already in progress) will allow remote clients to trigger push elements (changing elements in the database) and User Comms (sending SMS’s etc).

Users with standards compliant browsers (firefox, opera etc) will be able to make use of the ‘One Click Co-ordinates’ feature when adding a site, simply click on ‘Add Site’, zoom into where your site is then right click, the co-ordinates are saved and you are onto Stage 2!

In response to the defacement attack earlier in the month I’ve had to resort to using Captcha’s on some elements of the site.

Adding Event Dates (Retail sites can have ‘events’ now too!) is now simplified, the map is now also capable of displaying multiple events for one site in a given time period (oversight of mine). You can also edit Event Details upto and including the date of the event. Events that have happened in the past can not be edited.
