  Is it possible to score an 11 on my Likability Scale? Yes. Let’s check out the THREE OUNCE Manix 2 C101BL2 in translucent blue polymer. Having undergone six months of backpacking, EDC, food prep, and cut testing here in TNP, I found this version to be the best yet and it excelled in all categories. The Manix series is the ongoing project of Eric Glesser of Spyderco and he keeps making it better. Here we find close attention paid to extreme lightweight with no meaningful sacrifice to strength and durability. The FRCP see thru handles tell the story: there is a complete absence of steel liners. And yet it gives up nothing in strength. These are tough, impact resistant, and good looking co-polymer handles for the Manix. They are comfortable but even better, they’re grippy. High traction is found on the Manix, easily qualifying it for emergency defensive POUs (other discussed). Two deep finger choils (one handle, one blade), superb jimping on ramps both top and bottom, molded in volcano grip texturing, and rounded corners lock in the hand. Regardless of the weight, it seems few other blades achieve this level of in-hand confidence. A big lanyard hole is molded in, easily accepting 550 cord attachments. Amazingly you will a big 3.4" full flat ground leaf shaped Spyderco blade in this featherweight. Engineering excellence. This C101BL2 version had a beautiful brightly polished Carpenter CTS-BD1 US made steel. Its rust resistance, edge retention, sharpenability, and fine edge capabilities meet or exceed VG10 performance from what I’ve seen so far (subject to change). With the FFG, this steel lazed through cardboard and steel retained a good edge. After two days in snow pack it showed no rust. Speed and lockup on the Manix 2 C101BL2 are flawless. The ball bearing lock is smooth, ambi, strong, and easy and fast to operate. Near perfection is found in the high tension silhouette wire clip that carries strong and relatively deep. It was tough in use and its low profile is welcome as you bushwhack your way to your favorite mountain location. Value is outstanding for a US produced folder with these quality levels, materials, and lightweight. Some other TNP HOF competitive options, still technical achievements in their own right are shown. The only miss the Manix 2 trans blue surprisingly has pinned pivot and handle construction; it would better to allow user maintenance if needed. But when POUs of tactical, EDC, backpacking, or survival kit are considered, few other knives are matching this 3.0 ounce, 3.4" bladed powerhouse. As discussed for years here in TNP, it indeed proves that such a knife IS possible. This Manix version therefore enters into the TNP Hall of Fame and will be another go to blade when weight is critical.////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 11 out of 10////////////////Purchase this knife for less at www.cutleryshoppe.com. • VG10 Camillus Drop Point, 18668 by Nutnfancy
  The Camillus name is being used again…and there’s a couple of good blades they’re making. Here’s one. This knife was suggested by a TNPr and he was correct in its upsides: razor sharp hollow ground VG10 steel, very lightweight pillar construction (only 3.0 oz), good thumbstud, black TiNi coating, and priced reasonably for around $45. This is the Camillus 7.25" G10 Model 18668 which stupidly lacks a good name. But it doesn’t lack classic good looks and function as classy and very capable EDC blade. Speed and lockup are flawless. A downside would be its tip down clip that proved to be impossible to re-attach when bent in slightly for more gripping power. Camillus customer service replaced it quickly. Also it lacks any skeletonizing. However ergos are excellent with handsome milled and rounded G10 handles. Competitive options are shown, some better, some worse. With a two way positionable pocket clip (blackened) and skeletonizing this Camillus has the makings of a TNP Hall of Famer one day. As it stands now it will still make my BEST Knives Under $40 Playlist (price close enough)./////////////////////////// Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 8 out of 10 (pts gained for lightweight, pillar build, awesome steel)

  Copehill Down is a UK Ministry of Defence training facility located on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire, England. It is a ‘FIBUA’ (Fighting In Built Up Areas) urban warfare and Close quarters battle training centre where exercises and tests are conducted.
  The Village was built in 1988 to resemble a German village in Bavaria, to provide troops with a simulated backdrop when training for operations in European theatres including the Cold War, the Balkans and Northern Ireland.

• "Microtech Ultratech: Rapid Fire Quality" by Nutnfancy
  An ultra quality out the front auto knife from Microtech. Here’s HEC personified in this classy auto. The Microtech Ultratech gets most elements right. It is light for this sized OTF at just 3.8 oz for it’s 3.4 inch blade. The double action is fast and sure, the lockup is tight for this style of blade. Many blade choices and steels have been offered in this popular Microtech blade: bayonet, drop point ("standard"), tanto, and double edge grinds. These models feature CPM S35-VN steel, an appropriate choice. Blade finishes include Scotch Brite (called "satin" by Microtech), camo variations (favorites), and the handsome stonewashed option. Most are shown and discussed here, tied into POU preferences. All examined UTs arrive with perfect grinds and scalpel sharpness. Top on the list is employing the Ultratech as a HEC blade. Attention to detail in all models examined, even 2012 ones, looks flawless. Ergonomics sore due mostly to the slim handleset, high traction deployment button (located topside, doubles as a thumb ramp too), and useful handle jimp milling. I find the deployment too hard to actuate and it should be softened up in future generations perhaps. The UT also carries discretely with the deep pocket clip, butt mounted in conjunction with a large glass and head breaker point . That features adds coolness and utility. Durability and strength are high for the type however complaints on MT service are noted (but not verified yet). Value for a superb quality USA MADE OTF knife is excellent, especially when secured with the Nutnfancy discount at a recommend retailer. Expect around $225 vs about $400 for a Benchmade Infidel OTF, also an excellent blade. Better value can be secured in many other strong tactical folding knives and even some autos. They will however lack the panache and coolness of the enduring Ultratech. • Gerber Gets One Right: Gerber Dime MT
  Shorter vid and review of some Gerber light duty keychain sized MTs. The Splice is a bit rough hewn and its tools are hard to open. I do like the blade and its wide tool selection. Smooth it out and make it higher quality and you have the Gerber Dime, which compares very favorably agains the reference standard of the Leatherman PS4. • "Lion Heart" Part 2 by Nutnfancy
  The Mauser ammo fires intermittently making shooting the Mauser tough. That’s since been corrected by insalling a stronger bolt spring. Coyote and I preserver and make fun of each other in the process. I finally resort to some modern AR-15 action since I want footage of it. Though not as hard hitting as the Garand and Mausers, it’s illuminating seeing how fast and easy the hits come by comparison. Those are still viable battle options but there’s reasons they’re not used anymore by armed forces. Several pistols come into play and Coyote as some troubles connecting with his XDM 5.25 and I give him a mulligan and check zero. It’s on and still a great gun. After many runs we suspend the drill and have some fun with the Actiontarget.com Plate Rack which we love. It’s a fast way to blow through a lot of money…see my review. .22 Pistols come out to take pot shots at 150 yards and we connect some. To end the day, the Garand barks some more from standing position. • "Mcusta Katana: Ninja EDC" by Nutnfancy
  A tiny and beautiful forged Katana that EDCs well. This is no gimick either but a beautifully crafted Seki City blade: the striking and beautiful Mcusta Katana MC-4 knife. Of immediate visual interest for me is the dark navy blue satin finished forged T6 handles scales that feature contrasting anodized milled grooves, mimicking the Katana handle accurately. It is simple and yet function CNC milling at its best. The shape is also oriental, invoking thoughts of its Seki City Japan origin. This visual interest here is high; well-executed. The 3.25" tanto blade deploys smooth and fast on the Mcusta nylon bearing system. I remain impressed with its simplicity and precision (blade centering is perfect, good detent retention). Steel provides function and style at once; a layered almost damascus VG-10 steel arrives insanely sharp with a perfect relief edge. It too bespeaks of the Katana blade and its gradual tanto shape will provide cutting precision. Be careful with the tip…you can’t have everything here. VG-10 again is a wise choice and on par for the region. Lockup and strength in this 3.4 oz lockback is surprising. It shows no weakness. Ergos with the duel blade stopping thumbstuds and overall feel in hand are excellent. The handling milling provides improved traction but the lack of jimping and guard might limit serious and planned self defense employment. Function is here for sure but this Mcusta is delivering a style show. Close inspection will show attention to detail that seems like it should command higher prices in the knife world: kind of like the color coordinated and big lanyard hole. The clip is excellent and even provides pivot screw access. It is loop over and carries deep; tip down here to preserve visual design elements. Value in the MC-4 Katana is excellent and even surpasses many Spyderco blades in specialness. At around $125 the Katana is worth it and you might even be surprised it doesn’t cost more. You may have a hard time integrating this one into your EDC system however. A blade this beautiful seems to be destined as a collectible. But if you made the jump and used care with the delicate tip you might find its not all about looks with the Mcusta Katana.//////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 10 out of 10/////////////////// Get it for LESS at: http://www.bladehq.com/cat–Nutnfancy-Specials–914 (it will post soon)

  The Polymer XCR is a great addition to the Echo 1 Line-up.. Light Weight, EZ to upgrade and Repair, 2 versions (Long and Short), Accepts a lot of Aftermarket Accessories the Original E1 XCR could not.

  I am a bit Biased, as I really like the design of the XCR. I dont think I could not like it. As shown in this vid, the gun is compatible with many different Mags, and the performance is really good. This is the Prototype, but what we see here is what the Production run should be.

  Amazingly light for its broad 83mm blade, the Spyderco Junior enters the Hall of Fame as a premier backpacking blade. You might credit the perfectly milled out liners. Even more deserving is the deeply sculpted handle covered in medium traction G10. They form a guard in the hold for protecting your fingers and give good cutting control. You’ll find a large lanyard hold in the handle. The broad, full flat ground VG10 blade is insanely sharp out of box with a perfectly ground relief edge. The steel choice is wise for the backpacking and EDC and Food Prep POUs. It’s highly rust resistand and takes a fine edge and is easy to sharpen. Jimping adds to the traction and it’s done right. This medium sized blade has excellent traction therefore. The hardened spring wire tension clip carries tip up and deep. It’s reversible. Speed and lockup are excellent with the compression lock which is released top side. Blade centering and detent retention show no flaws. Value is good but not outstanding since the blade clocks in at $125 currently, use my rec’d dealers to save. Other equally light and capable backpacking blades are discussed, many also HOFamers too. But other than price, I find little to complain about with the Diaconescu/Spyderco Junior. It’s near perfect. ///////////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scales: 9.5 out of 10

• MilSimJunkie Review – Head On Tactical AK/M4 Chest Rig
  I first heard about Head On Tactical through a friend who had visited a local AEX (Sacramento). My friend was looking for a platform for both his real steel setup and airsoft loadout. The Head On Tactical AK/M4 chest rig was just that platform. Soon I found myself with said chest rig and wearing both and off the field. Head On Tactical very seldom stock piles its products so this chest rig was made once ordered. Pieced together by hand of 1000 cordura each seam is triple stitched and fabric is doubled layered. The four magazine pouches accomodate 4 AK or M4 style magazines and it permanently attached to the rig, with molle webbing on the front for more accessories. There are six clip points all with an ample amount of webbing to adjust for either a large frame body, like myself, to a smaller frame body. I am highly impressed with the rig and will keep it with me in years to come.

• SOG Field Pup review by Nutnfancy
  The kind of ugly girl who cooks good. The SOG Field Pup 1 and 2 may not attract some buyers with its lines but to carry and use them is to love them. Form follows function here. They have amazing ergos with a perfectly shaped Kraton handle, jimping, and a super light weight. They balance well and are very comfortable in use. Unfortunately SOG produces the Field Pups in China with 7Cr17Mov steel which is analogous to 440A steel (which I hate). Previous versions had the more preferred AUS8 steel. SOG should at least switch to 8Cr13Mov for improved edge holding. Nevertheless these Pups arrive extremely sharp and still provide good cutting performance; expect to sharpen at little more though. The included leather sheaths are of medium quality and are super lightweight. Versions of the Field Pup 2 are offered with the much more preferred MOLLE sheath shown and discussed in detail. It allows the Pup to ride unobtrusively on LBE or belt until needed (tested). Value is very high at the discussed pricing levels. As a light tactical, camp, food prep, fishing, or utility fixed blade the SOG Field Pup excels. Likability is hurt however by the 2012 steel choice./////////////////////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 8 out of 10

• "SOG Tsunami: Hand Katana" by Nutnfancy
  Sex sells. Even with knives. Enter the good looking SOG Tsunami that strikes sleek and deadly lines. It should be a movie knife. But beyond its slick exterior, the Tsunami delvers a big wave of capability too. The tip geometry is gradual and will penetrate most mediums readily. The AUS8 6.5" tanto blade features has slight belly, is hollow ground, and is offensively sharp. The Tsunami shares the Kraton handle and topside jimping from the Northwest Ranger. Both features are well-executed here as well. I wish the handle had 1/2" extra length. Carry weight is 11.4 oz with the plastic lined MOLLED nylon sheath. This scabbard is generally excellent but takes a hit for using a velcro retention strap instead of a better fitting, more secure snapped option. Value is very high for this fighting knife, expect around $60 in 2012 for this blackened TiNi version. Other equally capable and cool competitive options shown. Balanced with high cutting capability and good looks though, the Tsunami enters the SOG Hall of Fame as another desirable fixed blade.//////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 9 out of 10

If it had been a poor design, it was be nothing more than yet another forgettable footnote of World War II as the Allies stood against Axis aggression. But the Garand, a briliiant design of John G. which dominated the competition, was much more. It was easily the best and most influential battle rifle of the war. The Garand provided US forces with superior firepower, a quick reload, high accuracy, and durability under frozen, jungle, and even desert conditions. In TNP I set out to prove this all for myself and the crew in over five months of extensive and expensive testing of five M1 Garands, hailing from the WW II, Korean, and modern era production periouds. As a former drill rifle to me, I needed to gain expertise in the M1 system. It came readily. Not because I’m something special but because the Garand is easy to master and shoot well. The M1 1 MOA adjustable apertures sights are exceptional even today and we shot successfully to 400 yards on man sized targets with them. Don’t expect night capabilities however on the M1, it’s pure 1930s technology. Other ergonomic considerations such as reloading, sling and accessory considerations, stock fit, and safety actuation are discussed. The two stage trigger is not light but it is predictable and smooth, contributing to accuracy. Quality levels in most Garands is superb: each features a forged steel receiver which, when made today, will push prices to $1600 and above. The black walnut stock has character and is durable. It can absorb and hold Cosmoline/oil weight and retain it however, adding to the package. The weight on this .30-06 battle rifle made out of black walnut and steel is substantial: samples shown weigh from 9.5 to 10.5 pounds. Coupled with heavy ammo that weighs double that of an AR-15/M4 loadout, that’s a lot. But its round defeats many choices of cover that your opponent may stupidly rely upon as its power dominates the 7.62×39mm, 5.45mm, and 5.56mm caliber choices. Firepower is limited by modern standards but the eight round en bloc spring steel clips can remain loaded forever and recharging can be fast once practiced. Maintenance with the Garand is generally simple: ensure referenced components are greased/lubed and the op rod spring is sound and the M1 will run near 100% in all weather conditions. Though not a closed action design, I remain amazed at the ruggedness, durability, and resistence to wet weather the Garand action showed in my testing. Accuracy is excellent , targets shown. With good lots of M2 152 gr ball, two Garands showed near MOA groups with iron sights, benchrested shooting at 100 yds. Practical accuracy on the 175 yard steel targets was outstanding. The test subjects are various grades of CMP rifles to include SPECIAL, CORRECT, and SERVICE Grades of Springfield Armory WW II and HRA 1950s rifles. These CMP rifles are available under wide qualification to civilians, shipped direct to your door for reasonable prices. CMP is my top recommended source for your for their value, high integrity documentation, and variety. Other sources exist but exercise care from non-vetted private sourcing. At the time of test and review, TNP purchased the SERVICE GRADE HRA for $625, an exceptional value. In 2012 Special Grades chambered in .308 became available (preferences discussed). The product improved M1 Garand, also known as the M14/M1A is a more capable platform in terms of optics mounting, firepower, and flash suppression but at its heart lies the rock solid Garand. But it’s much more expensive, does not have a forged receiver, and it lacks the history. If money is tight, the $600 Garand my top choice for major caliber battle rifle. POUs are discussed and Recreational use is a top choice. For more serious POUs, I would feel well armed with a Garand in many encounters. Therefore, after thousands of round fired through the M1s here, I answer the question definitively: the M1 Garand is still capable in a modern battle. Some compromises will be made in its choice but it can end the fight with authority just like it did in over three wars. Trusted by generations of American soldiers whose lives it saved, the M1 Garand’s design excellence stands the test of time even today.   I was finally able to edit and upload this gameplay video after all the other project videos were completed. This day saw a lot of action between both camo and insurgents. As you can hear in this video someone brought out a Polar Star which sounded awesome while on the field. One player even challenged himself to get a nerf bow and arrow kill. Overall great day and I had a blast watching them duke it out.

We will have to deal with the political realities of Politics 2012 instead of complaining incessantly of how we wish things were different and ultimately taking ourselves out of the fight. As Americans we WILL make decisions on this process even if, foolishly, we decide NOT to vote. Maybe not the conservative we wanted, Romney is still a moral man with some strong points in his platform which I urge you to consider here. He is WORLD’S better than Obama and anyone who says they’re the same is ignorant. Some have taken extreme positions and yet choose not to participate in the peaceful political process leaving the true patriot out there to get the work done. Much rides on this election and once freedom is LOST is hard won back, if at all. Draconian measures against your freedoms in gun rights for instance are just a vote away. Choose wisely, don’t give up, and participate.
