• [Airsoft] Magpul ACR Masada ORGA Custom at 30 Meters
  When I first got my Masada I did a quick accuracy test on a short 10 meter indoor range. Last week I got the Masada back after a full internal upgrade, and I thought I would get some video of me testing it out back.

  I fired 3×10 shots at a target 30 meters (100 feet) away. I was using .28g G&G bio bbs.

  The ACR has the following upgrades:
  - 180mm ORGA Magnus 6.23mm WideBore Barrel
  - Firefly Namazu flat hop
  - ORGA Magnus Bore-up cylinder and piston head
  - Super core piston
  - SHS 18:1 gears
  - Marui EG1000 motor
  - SHS M130 spring

  With the upgrades the ACR is shooting at just under 1J, so it is still legal in Japan!

• NUTNFANCY SHOT 2012: Robinson Arms Update
  In 2009 I reviewed both versions of the XCR and gave them mostly thumbs up. The XCRs combine AR ergonomics with AK level reliability and longevity. With brass fodder, they were accurate and reliable. I did criticize the weight (dude to all metal chassis), the firing impulse, and not being able to feed steel cased ammo back then. This is equal time for Alex Robinson in front of a big audience. He shows us the updates to the design, explains the unique non-rotating bolt of the XCR, and takes exception to the recoil criticism. Fair enough! The XCR now wears what seems to be a much better design adjustable AND folding XCS stock; check out that sweet check piece that actually DOES raise your check weld (vs the SCAR). I think if Robinson would mill off those side and bottom rails entirely and include three 3" sections that are user attachable, the gun could lose a few ounces and sell better and I myself would be more excited about it. But even as it is, few guns do what the XCR does now: a Kalishinov style design that departs completely with Stoner and rapid caliber conversions. It seems the caliber conversions are a bit more affordable than they used to be too. Available in CeraKoted finishes, the 7.5 lb (light contour barrel) XCR-L still stands alone as a unique, reliable alternative to the competition.

• NUTNFANCY SHOT 2012: LWRC Lust
  If you’re tactically oriented like we tend to be in TNP, you will like these guns. I pick my favorites from the LWRC rack and we take it to the back room to have AJ cover the details on these cool looking high performing piston AR-15s. Proven in extensive testing in TNP with these LWRC carbines run 100%. They are constantly evolving into even better guns and for years LWRC has been the choice for some serious LE and Military users. Here we look at the Tricon Mk 6, M6 IC, IC SPR, and some other new guns for 2012. Most of these guns wear their attractive FDE CeraKote finishing that is currently a $150 upcharge. Also you note the new forged rail attachment system in the IC that competed in the military trials. It’s a cool feature but I wouldn’t feel inadequate running the old style at all; very proven. Also we see their entry level gun featuring all standard LWRC nickel boron internals and a .62 tapering Nicorr finished barrel: The Base Model. Their .308 REPR is still heavy for me but on par with other designs like the DMPS, Remingtion, LaRue, and JP. It’s CNC bolt carrier is Teflon coated and it has a left mounted charging handle that you will either love or hate. Their Skirmish Sights and LWRC Ambi Charging handle are well designed and I’d love running them on my guns and they’re about the same price as other alternatives. TacticalDoodle succumbs to LWRC lust in the end but we keep him from walking away with one or two of these fighting rifles. If you want to see how perfected the AR-15 desgin can get, no holds barred, look to JP. He became a reluctant believer of the 15’s accuracy and then went on to improve the design according he and his shooters’ needs. With this extensive competition background and data emerges the very impressive JP Enterprises models of the gun, covered here (also produced not shown, the very smooth MR-10 bolt gun). JP guns come in our favorite calibers and everything is negotiable when you order (but might up the cost). Forget mil-spec. This is above and beyond and light years better: billet receivers, thermal dissipators, perfectly milled and tuned muzzle brakes, cryo’d 416R air-gauged SS barrels, smoothness enhancing captured action springs, offside folding charging handles, and highly tuned triggers that are reliable, precise, and quick-resetting. Yeah they’re special and built like and old school Swiss watch. Rack the bolt of a JP gun like the PSC-11 and you will feel the quality and extreme attention detail. John does an outstanding job of explaining his design approach; his passion and commitment to the details comes through loud and clear. He relishes in the fact his small company doesn’t answer to bean counters that would force shortcuts on basis of cost. No corners are cut here and no apologies are made for it. Of course these guns cost and they cost A LOT but lots of other great alternatives abound. A quick look on the Three Gun courses will show that many opt for the JP brand so they have a gun that "shoots like a house on fire." Quick, fast, and precise these are some of the best DI semi-autos and bolt guns in the world. We had a wonderful time visiting with another master in the industry and learning about another American firearms success story. Every industry needs a FERRARI and in the AR-15 world, it’s JP.

  Mr Ron Barrett himself gives us the guided tour of all things Barrett. In detail we check out the M98, MRAD, and M107A! rifles. Insight to this great American success story ensues. Ron did what nobody else had and persevered in educating the military and civilian shooter on his products’ capabilities. Be a ground troop in Afghanistan using the M107 and you too will be a believer. These American made guns are very expensive but they deliver and they do so under harsh, day after day battlefield conditions. Barrett light fifties continue to provide the military with man portable capabilities that other weapon systems can’t at this weight level. They’ve saved lives. • NUTNFANCY SHOT 2012: SIG P938 Win, P224 Lose
  I would never buy the new Sig P224. In fact I can’t think of a reason of why they made it. I think the objective was concealed carry. But it’s too thick, too heavy, and has an abbreviated grip. I still love the classic P228/229/226 Sigs but those are full sized pistols with different POUs. And check out that retail price…unbelievable. Instead get excited about the trim and slim Sig P938. At 17.5 or so ounces it’s a much better option. If it’s as reliable and accurate as the .380 P238 then it will be another win. Be careful though: that’s still a cocked and lock carry battery of arms which may not be suitable for the inexperienced carrier. Also it loses round capacity to other guns like the even-lighter Kel-Tec PF-9. But most it seems to be an excellent entry into the CCW/CCP market and it will compete well against the Kimber Solo, Springfield EMP, and others.

  Hopefully this new process will accomplish the custom trademarks without the need for plates. Keep in mind NOBODY can etch BLUED steel. The BLUING process is a basic rust treatment so therefore the finish is rusted in a controlled manner which eliminates further natural rusting. Most NEW firearms
  Are anodized which also prevents natural rusting but is a cheaper more durable Finish. Anodized etches like a dream. On a blued gun hydro dipping is almost THE answer to makeover a gun protect it and is wayyy cheaper.

Oh great, just when I had the names down on the original line. You might find the branding discussion slightly uninteresting but I try to liven it up. Don’t get me wrong, the changes make sense and the new look is phenomenal but we are flashaholics and new retina melting glass in sleek, lightweight, long burning form factors is what excites us. But we are shown the new Preon P0-SS keychain light, the FourSevens compact titanium SPACE pen David designed, and some other enhancements along the way. I ask him if can make us a TWO CELL Quark Mini 123 for extended run times in minimal form factor; a possible candidate for the next Nutnfancy Ultimate Headlamp Kit, Version 2. He acts as if it’s a go…we’ll see ;-) PDIDude and TacticalDoodle are my running mates here and TD almost gets his face melted off with that XM-18 pushing out a bazillion CPs. At $2,500 it will probably remain an institutional portable lighting option but it’s cool.

  Fairly new item on the market, the material is somewhat of an unknown quantity and this is the first item I’ve heard of to be made from it, though I’d imagine if there aren’t already then there will be quite a few more to come. Either way, something a little bit different to the norm, yet very much in keeping with the new trend we’re now seeing sweeping through so many gear manufacturers with regards shaving weight of load-bearing gear down to the absolute minimum.

  If I were a betting man, I’d put money on the ‘next big thing’ for everyone trying to out-do each other for having the lightest plate carriers and chest rigs.

  During the second water test, no fluid actually penetrated the litelock fabric itself. Liquid only got through because I concentrated the jet of water specifically on to the zip and around the openings for the hydro pouch and the comms/tube passage. Had I stuck to the spray (which was a good representation for real rain) then I do not doubt I could have continued to hose this pack down for a very long time before any water started to soak through the material itself. Potentially indefinitely in fact.

  Regarding the loose straps issue: You can quite easily manage the excess webbing on the shoulder straps using a pair of ITW web dominators, however since the outer surface of nylon webbing is quite smooth these can fairly easily slide off or be dislodged, so some sort of permanent mod (such as the one I’ve done) will be substantially more reliable. I’m yet to decide on a management method for the sternum strap.

• The LWRC M6 series by Nutnfancy
  Long term test complete and the LWRC M6 proves its excellence in TNP. With over 800 rounds fired, it didn’t jam once, even with Wolf steel cased ammo. It is the first piston driven AR I’ve seen feed that steel ammo reliably. Attribute this level of reliability and durability to a perfected piston and bolt carrier system in the M6. Nickle Boron coatings, a self-scraping piston cup, improved piston return springs, and now a single piece bolt carrier group reside within these LWRC guns. Fit and finish is superb throughout and this now-collectible anodized Multi-regional Earth version is especially stunning. Nowadays if you want a coloration on your M6 it means a $150 up charge for the factory-applied CeraKoting. The mid-profile barrel is perfection. Its thickness is an ideal compromise for sustained fire and accuracy for extended engagements. It is Nicor coated inside and out, an improvement over chrome plating in the bore due to its thinness and consistency. This coating has passed extensive salt spray testing. Accuracy with regular ball ammo was disappointing even in careful fully resting shooting (however in RunNGun ie practical shooting it was excellent). With this example I achieved 2 to 3 MOA with American Eagle, PMC, and XM193/M855 loads. By contrast I see several high value DI AR-15s achieving sub MOA with the same ammo. With high quality and heavier ammo, it achieves sub MOA groups (impressive actually, shown). Strangely the 1/7 twist out the M6A2 5.56mm NATO barrel threw the 55 gr Noslers extremely accurately as well. The weight, at around 7.4 lbs is light for a piston AR-15 these days. The rail is too wide on this version and their new REPR style of rail, featured on the M6A2 SPR version, would be a huge ergonomic improvement. Fully equipped with Troy-produced (or in house "Skirmish") sights and decent grips and stock, the M6s come "RTR." You shouldn’t have to add in anything to this combat and LE proven tactical carbine. Granted I put in a Timney 4lb trigger to see if bigger improvements could be made in accuracy (they weren’t). This included trigger now breaks lighter due to high tech coatings; expect around a 5.5 lb crisp pull. Value is moderate at around $2000 and the track record is outstanding both in TNP and real world combat engagements.   Our high desert shoot and friend adventure continues with a hike up to the far peak where the fog rolls in and the temperature drops. It’s farther and harder than it looks…probably because I’m out of hiking shape too, knees acting up. Full weapons load outs come along. We are greeted by amazing views and a killer sunset that stunned me. Time to eat. Grilled Polish sausage and authentic, high quality sauerkraut and German mustard come along to make this cold weather grub even more special. Man that’s good. Unbelievably BuggetNuster loads his plate up with a nasty concoction of chilli and other stuff that gives him projectile diarrhea later on. This is becoming a trend! In High Skies Adventure series he did the same thing! ArmedSerenity stays more quiet than usual…turns out he was ill-prepared for the cold and was freezing. I give him a jacket later on. Sometimes it’s a full time job babysitting these guys and depussifying them.
