Main body -  intro page
As Europe continues the uneasy Cold War stand-off across the plains of Europe, NATO forces prepare to begin an exercise on the northern German plains. Ever suspicious of the West, Soviet Bloc forces stand ready and watchful on the Eastern side of the East-West border. A tense peace exists between the two sides. At 23:04 a report is received by the NATO command that one of their forward observation bases has been attacked and that there are no survivors. The finger of blame points across the border at the Soviet forces and tension between the East & West rises to almost unbearable levels. In a report delivered 14 hours after the attack there is mention made of a dead soldier who was found 200 yards away from the FoB. The soldier was dressed in WWII Wermacht uniform, his face is obscured by some form of armoured mask. The report is immediately classified and the NATO assumption is that this is a ruse perpetrated by the Soviets.

Diplomatic approaches made by NATO have received no response, including a warning that unless those responsible are handed over to western justice, offensive action cannot be ruled out. No such response is received, and at 05:45 on the 25th of October, a divisional attack is launched across the border into East Germany. Europe is on the brink of WWIII…
