PolarStar have a new live video channel on Ustream to show you what they do:
We’ve had people ask us about what we do here at PolarStar Engineering & Machine. So we decided to set up a webcam on the shop floor. Now you can watch us live on our Ustream video channel as we design, machine, assemble and test every Fusion Engine and PR-15 before they are shipped out to retailers. You’ll also get to see us working on other projects including ballistics testing equipment and race cars. We also plan on holding live Q&A sessions as well as random surprise giveaways for anyone lucky enough to be watching at the right time.
Here’s a preview of what we’ll be showing live on our Ustream channel… our latest video showing the PolarStar Fusion Engine Trigger Pull Torture Test. The fun part about this test is that the Fusion Engine featured in the video is actually "pulling" its own trigger. The cylinder section has been separated and flipped 180 degrees so that when the spring loaded nozzle cycles forward it pushes against it’s own trigger. Once the trigger is pressed this test Fusion Engine fires one shot (it’s set to semi auto) and then the nozzle retracts for a specified dwell time before returning forward to press the trigger again. We lowered the rate of fire so the video camera could capture the movement of the air nozzle, trigger and electronic switch. This Fusion Engine has over 362,000 trigger pulls so far. No more broken trigger posts or burned out trigger switches.
