The American Society for Testing and Materials International has proposed a standard for a "low impact" paintball standard. Their announcement says that this new low impact standard will "slow down the game and limit shooting proximity," to accomplish the goal of creating a what I like to call "paintball light." Their public announcement does not mention any changes in paintball markers to shoot at lower energies or changing the weight of the paintballs. Maybe they would enjoy watching the Airsoft Medicine video on "Airsoft Bang Kill, Mercy Kill, Surrender Rule" to see what a bag of worms they are getting themselves into.
