Hi News Fairy, We’ve recently received a massive G&G shipment featuring re stocks of everyone’s favourite rifle’s and some new one’s like the CM16 R8. Another gucchi addition is new upgraded G&G Elcan Spectre DR red/green dot Scope 1 x + 4 x magnification.
In our opinion this is the best scope currently available to the airsoft market. The scope has a very large aperture, making target acquisition much easier, when compared with other designs. This version also offers exceptional eye relief at both 1x magnification and 4 x magnification. It also features a high quality red and green dot, with 5 brightness settings for each.
The optical quality on this particular version is great. With the flick of a leaver you can switch from 1 x magnification to 4 x magnification (unlike a lot of other versions of this scope), just like the “real steel” version. This version also has well made quick release leavers, making attaching and detaching the scope from a rail a 2 second job. The British Army are gradually upgrading their scope of choice from The Susat to the Elcan Spectre DR. Whilst this isn’t the cheapest airsoft scope on the market, in our opinion it is certainly the best.
WARNING
To the best of our knowledge, there are at least 4 versions of this scope currently on the airsoft market, with a very wide range of quality. There are some versions that have reasonable optical quality but are fixed at 4 magnification and can’t be switched to 1 x magnification. There is another model being sold that has the leaver and claims to switch from 1 x magnification to 4 x magnification. However, the optical quality on this version is diabolical. When set at 1 x magnification, it actually reduces the size of the target. When set to 4 x magnification it, at best, gets to nearly 2 x magnification. There is another version fixed at 4x magnification, which has good optical quality but has poorly made quick release leavers, making it difficult and time consuming to fit onto your rail.The new version that we stock is the only model we have found that combines the ability to switch between 1x and 4 x magnification, whilst retaining full magnification and excellent optical quality. It also has well made leavers for easy attachment. If you are considering buying a version of this scope, we’d recommend caution. Either buy it from us, or buy it from a shop that will allow you test the scope before you buy it.

Pedantic maybe, but the British Army aren’t switching to SpecterDR scopes, they are switching to SpecterOS4 LDS. USSOCOM have procured the DR though.
Also there are 1x-4x replicas available that actually work really well. The ACM one from RSOV is illuminated and has dual role optics which are actually 1x and 4x, the criticisms of it are the paint finish being poor and QD levers need a hammer to dislodge.
