Gunman Airsoft June 2013 newsletter

by News Fairy

Here is the latest newsletter from Gunman Airsoft:

Dear Arnies Airsoft news, Hi all and welcome to the June news letter.  May the weather be with us!!

We have just announced our first joint venture for a few years with our cousins over at Tier1.  Operation Lion has been announced and tickets go on sale on Friday 24 May.  There are only 60 player places, so get in quick.
Also, the final details are being put together for the Gunman BATLLEFIELD August bank hols weekender at Tuddenham.  Tickets will go on sale for Friday 24 May too.  The EOM for Tudders will be the weekend before for the guys that don’t fancy the main Gunman event of the year.

We are still getting loads of new players signing up every month and are now advertising in both AI and AA magazines, so let’s hope we can keep the influx on new bodies rolling.

Get involved!

RETAIL – Target Action Supplies (TAS)
We have just filled the shelves with G&G M4s as well as the usual arsenal of weapons and tack gear.  CYMA orders are being taken for a big shop in June.  See here for more info http://gunmanforum.com/index.php?showforum=210

We have been asked about an online service, so in short NO.  We can’t afford to hold that much stock at this time and TAS role in Gunman is a support service, even though the company stands alone.  Feel free to keep emailing your orders to tas@gunmanairsoft.co.uk and we will do our best to get you your equipment as fast as possible.  Good discounts to large purchases.
We also offer a repair and up/down grade service.

What’s coming up?

November 16th 1965
The Battle for Ia Drang has come to an end and General Westmoreland has demanded that the 2nd/7th Cav and 2nd/5th Cav stay at X-Ray in order to avoid the appearance of a retreat. However Col. Brown, in overall command, is worried about reports that additional PAVN units are moving into the area over the border. Westmorland has given the orders that 2nd/7th and 2nd/5th Cav should make a tactical march to new LZs, Columbus and Albany. Our story follows what happened to the 2nd/7th at LZ Albany.

2nd/7th Cav have been ambushed after what should have been a short march and extraction by the NVA 3rd and 66th Regiments and the battle is raging on. Alpha companies 1st and 2nd Platoons have pushed forward and beyond LZ Albany to some dense woodland to the North. They have been joined by a small SF unit, who were following and observing the NVA 33rd regiment. The 33rd was defeated at the siege of the SF base at Plei Me in mid October and have been resting up at the nearby 3rd Battalion NVA HQ camp nearby.

17th November our story begins…
1000hrs. A fight is about to break out at the US forces are slowly become surrounded by NVA and no one knows its outcome, The key objective for Alpha is to protect LZ Albany and stop the multilple mortar units operating in the area, which are pounding the rest of the 2nd/7th column.

Only the brave will survive…

This is a full combat weekend with many objectives for both sides to complete.
See here for more info http://176.32.230.16/gunmanforum.com//index.php?showtopic=9907
This event is now fully sold out and we only have a few NVA/VC places left.

The Story…
On August 27th 1991 Moldova declared its independence from the Soviet Union became the Republic of Moldova. This declaration sparked civil unrest in area to the east of the country known as Transnistria. Ethnic Russians and Ukrainians, fearing persecution by the Moldovan government, began a separatist campaign to gain self governance. This eventually led to the War of Transnistria in March 1992. This short but bitter conflict lasted until July when a ceasefire brokered by Russia brought fighting to an end.
Today Transnistria retains its self governance under the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) but its independence is not recognised by the Moldovan government and the territory remains disputed. As a result the lasting peace has never been achieved and a Russian peacekeeping force remains in the region to enforce the ceasefire.

Since independence the Moldovan government has spent many years cultivating good relations with the west, and in particular the US, is now seeking to gain membership of both the EU and NATO. These actions have angered the PMR who have no desire to join either organisation. As a result armed conflict has once again broken out in the region, giving the Moldovan military the excuse it needs to mobilise and reoccupy disputed territory in the name of restoring peace.

The Moldovan forces, newly re-equipped by their US backers, have brushed aside initial PMR defences but now resistance is stiffening. In many part of the country PMR forces, their ranks swelled with volunteers, are waging a guerrilla war against them. PMR forces are also becoming better armed and equipped as weapons are smuggled in from unknown sources making them ever more dangerous. Already stretched to its limits the Moldovan military has put in a request for assistance from the US government to deal with this new threat.

Unwilling to intervene directly due to the proximity of Russian forces the official response from the US is decline to any assistance to Moldova as a non NATO member. Unofficially additional funding and equipment is being allocated to the Moldovan military. In order to provide direct support on the ground non US based private military contractors have been employed on special operations in the region.
One of these contactors, the South African based Magnum has been employed to assist the Moldovan forces to stemming the flow of these illegal weapons shipments. They are to secure the area around the main Tiraspol-Dubăsari-Rîbniţa highway and intercept any arms bound for PMR forces in the North of the region.

Meanwhile the Russian peacekeeper force has been maintained within the region despite requests by NATO and Moldovan government to leave. The Kremlin has taken the official line of condemning the actions of the Moldovan government but has made it clear that it is not prepared to support the PMR either. Its only actions so far are to put its troops on alert and place checkpoints at key locations throughout the region. All Russian forces are under orders to assist in keeping order but are to maintain their neutrality at all costs.

Site News and game days.
Build days will continue through the year so keep an eye on the forum.

Tuddenham news
Well guys, the second Ops weekend was fantastic as we got to use the scrubland at the top of the site which is huge.  We haven’t ‘shot’ up there for years and it was great to play in a part of the site new to nearly all.  Thanks as always to the guys in the field for playing so well and the marshal team which is second to none.

Build day was a bit of a wash out with only Vinny and Mark Easy turning out, but they got all the buildings swept out and repaired some of the tyre forts.  A new build day will get announced soon, remember guys, this is your site as much as ours.  Also big thanks to Stace and his lads for getting loads of work squared away at the safe zone.  The new/old but new again camping field has been cleared ready for the summer and the safe zone has had another makeover.  Well done guys.

Norwich news
We will know bud the end of the month what the deal is with planning, not much will change to start with but figures crossed.

However we are running our first Ops weekends at Norwich in 1-2 June, which means all the main sites are now taking part in the same story…..Awesome!  These events will only replace the good old FilmSim open day format when I can’t be there.

Gunman Norwich presents a new Ops open weekend.
Operation ‘Longbow pt1’ – The Source
June 1-2 2013
Welcome to another GMA FilmSim OPS Weekend. Dont be worried by the FilmSim bit, this is a game for everyone and you can use any sort of mag Hi, Low cap etc up to the Ammo Limit.
We have both sets of kit for rentals too! So get involved!!!
At the moment we have 2 sites all playing a part in the Se7en Sis7ers big story and Norwich is about to join in.

Prices 25 per day (Saturday or Sunday) or just 40 for the whole weekend (Walk-On).
Rentals 50 per day or 75 for the weekend.

We will be onsite from 16.00 on the Friday, so if you want to start the Social from Friday, feel free to join us, we have a large camping area and a toilet on site.

Scenario for Operation ‘Longbow ’ –Pt1 The Source
Following on from other CEF (Central European Force – DESERT TEAM) missions across GUNMAN, Operation Longbow is a daring attempt by CEF command to set up secret operations in and around Asia. At the moment, all operations are focused on one HVT (high value target)’The Flamingo’ and any involvement he may of had with a number of training camps around the world. A new threat has come to light known as ‘Pleides’ which may be the start of a huge attack on a number of key European cities, including major civilian and government locations. The US has given all its information to the CEF command concerning ‘The Flamingo’ after the bombing of the JFK airport in 2010. (This happened at a Gunman event in 2010).
Call Sign PUMA 040 units have just come back from an operation in Ecuador to find themselves re-deployed with PUMA 030 on a joint operation. It’s believed another priority camp has been located some 100 miles inside the CHINA border, south of Beijixang and at this point CEF don’t want to get CHINA involved. Both units will be dropped in via a night parachute drop and will have to tab in to a rendezvous some 3 clicks from target.
Mission Brief – Sat
• recon all possible camp facilities
• Mark Targets with spray
• Assault targets and search for intel
• Get intel to evac pickup
Sunday’s brief will depend entirely on Saturday’s outcome. These games are as organic as can be and its down to the guys on the ground how the story will unfold.

Eversley news
My god this site is flying into 2013.  Loads of work has been done on site by the build team and a new village (with a well) is already up.  Steve (Scorp on the forum) and Tom (Ginger Biscuit), two of the head marshals at Eversley have been working any spare hour to keep the site fresh and new.  The lads are getting new stuff done every month.  Also a huge thanks to all for the Great BBQ social at Mays Ops weekend, not quite the monster of the  old Tudders Socials, but bloody close!

Stoke news
We are looking at a new date soon.  We have decided to run a few small events to get the ball rolling, so keep your eyes peeled.
