6th Annual Nor-Cal CQB Challenge on September 12, 2009

This is an invitation for you and your team of 5 to 6 to attend and compete in the 6thth Annual Nor-Cal CQB Challenge.  This event is to take place on September 12th and 13th, 2009.  Team registration is strongly recommended but not necessary.  We do accept individual registrations!

Teams who have attended more than 2 years of the competition are allowed by-pass the instructional phase and attend only the competition at lower registration fee.  Teams who are on their 3rd year (or more) do have the option of attending the full intro class or the live fire segment at the normal entry fee.

What is the CQB Challenge?

This is an introductory to advance instruction of CQB/CQC/MOUT team tactics.  The instructional sessions will cover:

Assault v. security element, the "stack," weapons positioning, individual movement, two man movement, team movement, basic firearm etiquette and safety, movement in buildings, 360 coverage, stairwells, taking and securing, verbal and non-verbal communication, engaging targets: speed vs. accuracy, target recognition, covert and assault drills, officer down rescue, and much more!!

Who is teaching?

Our instructors have backgrounds in police and military CQB/MOUT combat and instruction. Most of our instructors currently are active with several local law enforcement agencies.

When and Where is it?

The event is to take place on September 12th and 13th, 2009 at Fort Ord, California.  The instructional session will occur inside and outside of barrack buildings on the base at RHP’s Heartbreak Ridge airsoft site.

Why should I attend?

This is an excellent chance to learn real-world CQB/MOUT tactics.  It’s also an opportunity to take your airsofting experience to the next level.  All instruction and drills that will be given will be the same lessons taught to the pros. This is as close to the real deal as it gets!

Instruction and Competition InformationDay 1 Instruction  for 1st/2nd Year Teams On the first day of the CQB Challenge, your instructors will cover everything from the basics of weapon positions, transitions and movement with weapons.  As the day progresses, instruction will turn to team movements both inside and outside of structures.  Your team will be taught how to use the urban environment as cover as the squad approacs a target building.  Upon reaching the target building, your team will be taught the various ways and means of breaching structures; everything from “doorknockers” to stealth entries.  Once inside, your team will continue to gain knowledge of CQB fundamentals as you move and engage inside the tightest of CQB environments.  Lessons on room clearing, hallway movement, stairwells and intersections are all covered.  This year, officer down and team extraction will be covered as well.

Second-year students will be introduced to a live fire range, where they will be placed in a higher stress situation of engaging non-reactive targets.  Your team will be placed in a multitude of shooting situations including the following: team shooting situations, individual one on one engagements, difficult and or un-orthodox shooting positions, point blank and 7-yard engagement ranges.  This will be followed by a review of year 1 course and introduction of advanced team movement and engagement skills explained in the previous paragraph for first-year teams. * – Order of events might vary on the actual training and competition date.

Day 1 – Instruction/Competition for 3rd Year Teams Third-year participants have the option to attend the “live fire” course can do so before they enter the scenario engagement/kill house portion of the competition.

Day 2 – Competition On the second day, all participants lock and load and go weapons “hot” as your team competes in four different point driven scenarios.

The first competition is a “police” style killhouse with the Roundhouse Cadre and instructor group acting as “OpFor”.  In this Killhouse you will face a unique challenge of armed and un-armed suspects are thrown at you as you try to rescue a hostage somewhere within the structure.  This places you in a situation where shooting isn’t always the answer…just an option.

The other three competitions are directed at your shooting skills and physical ability.  Both will be timed shooting scenarios that will test your ability to recognize targets, engage with both your pistol and rifle in a variety of shooting positions.  Four members of your team will compete in these timed and scored scenarios.* *Order of events might vary on the actual training and competition date.

Equipment Suggestions and Requirements

Uniform Requirements: Show up coordinated with teammates. This is the only requirement. Both civilian and BDU clothing is acceptable as long as your team looks uniform.  Staff will be wearing black polo shirts and tan 5.11 pants.  Instructors are wearing Red Polo’s and tan pants.  Please choose any other combination other than the aforementioned staff uniforms.

Safety Requirements
