Warning concerning Silent Flash’s EM40B

by Arnie

Well this is an interesting one, I know a lot of people have toyed with the idea of some form of solenoid driven Airsoft rifle, and I this is the first version I’ve seen advertised for sale. A company called Silent Flash Ltd (http://www.em-gun.com) sport a product called the EM40B tat looks a lot like the FN2000; it would obviously be of huge interest to HALO/SplinterCell fans. But wait, read on first!

Now here comes the cautious bit. Their site does show shots of what is portrayed to be at least one real end product (and there’s a video of it in their gallery, http://www.em-gun.com/gallery.htm, although curiously not of the rifle working), but they are based in Russia according to hosting details and little is known about them. The ‘photos’ look very much like renderings and it’s bet to be hesitant these days when things look too good to be true. This project comes from an unknown group from somewere you’d not expect. Airsofters have been hit by people that aren’t who they seem to be many times in the past, especially from ‘would be manufacturers’, so the best advice at the moment is to stay away from this and similar projects.

UPDATE: Word from Denisenko, (AirsoftGun.ru) looks to confim the fears that this project is some form of scam. Reportedly several people in Russia have tried to purchase this product and failed to receive anything, and also failed to manage to meet the makers or see the project. If you see this project appear elsewhere, or anything similar it would be advisable to check things before proceeding, as this looks very much like another scam attempt.

In light of the update, links have been removed and replaced with plaintext URLs so as not to encourage visits from readers that haven’t read the text first.

Here’s the details from their site should anything similar appear elsewhere:

Features of costruction

First of all, we use bullpup configuration, it makes possible to increase barrel length and place capacitors, coils and batteries.
Our rifle is light with the center of balance directly over the strong hand.

We use specially designed projectie for bullet acceleration in our devices. Last stage of coigun is used for stopping projectile but diamagnetic bullet don’t stops.

At this moment projectile energy transforms to additional bullet energy using especial mechanism. Projectile construction is patented. Our engineers worked on it during two years and made numerous of calculations and tests.

So you can use any diamagnetic ball 0.177″ (4.5 mm) size as a bullet. We recomend to use Gamo round ball 0.177″ (4.5mm) pellets or plastic balls same size.

Some advantages that have our guns:
It has no moving parts, apart from the projectile, but because of magnetic levitation it doesn’t touches the barrel;
Minimum noise and muzzle blast;
Low cost per shot;
Built-in battery charger makes device easy to use;
LED indicators show current state of the weapon;
Portability (you can use car charger, when you are not at home).

Many metallic parts are used for better appearance and higher performance.

Now the above relates to their previous model however they’ve placed news up recently to indicate that they have an Airsoft version of the above.
