Ai 500 Dark Harvest- in association with Airsoft World

Standfirst
2027AD. Following the uncontained nuclear exchange in the Middle East in 2012, society worldwide has broken down. There are no countries, there are no nations, there are only Clans. There is no priority but survival and prowess at arms is the most highly prized quality. Despite the devastation however the Clans have maintained some skills from before ‘he Reckoning’ hief amongst these are the skills of the doctor. Constant fighting between Clans and a stagnant birth rate due to contamination has made the ability to keep Clan members alive a vital pursuit. This necessity has pushed donor technology far beyond what existed, but the unwilling donors are likely to be prisoners snatched from rival Clans.

The opportunity to ransack an abandoned hospital for supplies and equipment is too attractive to ignore and two Clans are destined to meet for a battle of will and wits that will decide the fate of one of them. The hospital however has a dark secret…

Prelude
The two Clans will arrive at the hospital at almost the same time.  Although neither was forewarned, the appearance of another Clan was not wholly unexpected.  What follows is now commonplace for  both Clans.  Defences will be set out, recon teams will be sent to scout the hospital and report back to the Clan Chief.  At this stage, outright battle will be avoided.

Both Clans will seek out and establish a Disassembly Lab.  This must be in an area large enough to manage several donors and in a position that will allow it to be defended.  Rival Clans are not averse to capturing and using donor parts from their own fallen warriors, well, waste not want not!

The Clans must therefore ensure that not only is the DL in a position that can be defended, but situated to allow the safe removal of donated parts to a place of safety.

With these conditions met, the Clans can finally move the Harvesters into place, these are the ‘medical’ staff that will effect the removal of organs and limbs.

Once all this is in place, the Clan Chief or his appointed spokesman should inform the Game Control Centre.

Overture
Once the DLs and Harvesters are in place, the Clans should turn their attention to collecting donors.  There is only one absolute condition for donors – they must be alive.  Given that all Clan members are well aware of what awaits them should they be captured by a rival, and given certain knowledge that harvesting by their enemies will be as brutal as their own, clan members will normally fight to the death.  Dead donors are of no use to either clan.  In order to capture a donor alive, the captor must lay a hand on the donor without being shot.  It is not necessary to wrestle or tackle the player, the laying on of a hand indicates the end of armed resistance.  For the purposes of the game it is also unnecessary to disarm a captured player as they cannot use them as long as a hand is kept on them.

Following capture, donors can attempt to escape should their captors remove a hand from them but must surrender again if a hand is placed on them.  They can be killed by their own team once captured.  For their Clan, there are advantages to this dubious mercy.  It denies the other Clan the benefits of donation.  It can also return the captured player to the fray quicker than if they are processed through the DL.  The capturing Clan can kill the donor at any time however he must be released immediately to respawn.

Once captured, the donor must accompany their captors to the DL.  Assuming that they arrive at the DL without further interference, they must then remain there for 15 minutes – the time required for Harvesting.  During this stay in the DL it can be assumed that there will be no further resistance and it is not necessary to keep a hand on the donor.  The donor cannot escape from the DL whilst there are members of the rival Clan alive in the room.  This means that only a successful raid on the DL will free donors – they cannot leave until all staff in the DL are dead and they cannot take part in the rescue attempt.

After harvesting is complete, the donor will leave the DL and return to one of the Respawn zones and can thereafter rejoin the game.

Once a rival Clan member has been Harvested, the donated matter must be transported to the Clan’s holding area.  Once there it can no longer be stolen by the rival Clan.  The more donor material collected, the stronger the Clan becomes and this will be reflected in reduced recovery (respawn) times.

Down to business
Once the grisly business of harvesting is established, the Clan Chief can begin detailing his clansmen to search for any remaining equipment or materials that may be of benefit to the Clan.  They will have at their disposal some basic information about the hospital including a floor plan for both levels.

Initially they should be searching for designated pieces of equipment, of which there may only be one present in the hospital.  Since these items will be of value to both Clans, it is to be expected that they may encounter the rival Clan bent on the same enterprise.  Since negotiation is unlikely, they will have to fight to gain, and keep, possession.  If the Clan holding the item is killed, it must be left where the last man fell.  The rivals can thereafter take possession and attempt to return it to their command post.

It will be during this phase of the conflict that the Clans will discover information about the dark past of the hospital and the true nature of the hidden threat facing them both.

The first documents recovered will refer obliquely to the project that gave rise to the Berserkers.  Subsequent documents will give more information about them and the support necessary for their survival.  By this point in the game both Clans should have become aware that there is something other than each other to contend with within the hospital, especially if they have encountered a Berserker in their psychotic phase!

In part this may come from a few locals captured whilst wandering in or around the hospital.  Although terrified by the Clans, they are more terrified of the hospital and its dark secret.  Assuming that the Clans are sufficiently on the ball, they can deliver limited information about the hospital and the ‘ghosts’ who inhabit it.  Whether or not the Clan chief chooses to take note of this, or simply sends the luckless locals for harvesting is up to the Chief.

The players fulfilling the role of locals should be stripped of all military or tactical equipment whilst acting as civilians.  As such the Clans will be briefed that they can be captured, interrogated and harvested (should they wish) but they should NOT be shot out of hand.  Capture rule applies – hand on at all times so that the prisoner cannot escape.  If captured the civilians should claim to have important knowledge but should only deliver what they have been given, preferably in a reasonably incoherent manner.

Once their role as non-combatants is over, the players may rejoin the game as part of their original Clan.
