Here’s an update from the Airsoft blog Strike – Hold!:
This month marks the 35th Anniversary of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. In honour of this anniversary I’m going to be publishing a series of articles this month relating to Israeli kit and forces; starting with a 2-part mini-series looking at the leading airsoft-replicas of the famous Galil assault rifle family.
To kick things off, I take a look at the Galil SAR from TSI Armories in the USA. (Strike – Hold!)
A little about Strike – Hold! :
“What’s with the title of this blog?”
Strike! Hold! is the motto of my old regiment – I was a Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division back in the ‘80’s. And to me it sums up the spirit of the elite: ‘strike’ from the sky – from the sea – from behind the lines, and ‘hold’ true to your mission – your objective – your unit.
Besides being a former active-duty paratrooper (there’s no such thing as an ex-Paratrooper), I am also into the sport/hobby of milsim airsoft, and am a member of a group that performs WWII commemorative parachute jumps in authentic kit from C-47 Dakota aircraft.
My maternal grandfather served in a Canadian motorised recce unit attached to the British Army’s Reconnaissance Corps in the Libyan desert in WWI, and one of his ancestors was John Graham, Jacobite leader, who defeated an English army at the Battle of Killiekrankie in 1689 – so I guess my interest in special ops and elite forces must be in my DNA.
