RA-TECH Custom AAC 300 LV2 User Review

We found the article by the user Yuli0329 of ARMS’ COOL, Taiwan’s biggest forum, very inspiring and informative. So we contacted and asked him if we could reprint it.

Finally I Got the AAC Complete Replica

So the AR-15 system by Eugene Stoner has been released for 50 years. From the first use in Vietnam War, his system hasn’t changed too much. No matter the updated SOPMOD by U.S. army, CR rifle in China, or 65 style rifle in Taiwan, all of them were built according to the system. There are more upgrade parts in USA. For instance, .50 Beowulf rifle by Alexander Arms, M468 6.8mm SPC by Barrett, 6 x 35mm PDW by KAC, or the strange looking AR57 rifle, all of which are new weapons developed from the firm system with different calibers.

In response to usages of bodyguards or armored members, the strong yet small concept influences the recent firearms a lot. Now the well-known 6 * 35mm PDW is. PDW then was simplified and improved the compatibility. So there’s the SR635. It looks like AR series and according to the website it can fit the original AR lower frame. This simple replacement to change the caliber is widely used in recent wars. One can bring fewer guns and more magazines.

SR635 was released by V brand for the first time in airsoft world. The small and short design impressed me. But I haven’t played AEG for a long time and I have no idea where is my battery. So I gave up the idea to collect another AEG. It was until this spring when I read about AAC .300 BLACKOUT GBB upgrades that I started to search again. Like my last post, I found the kit very expensive. Also, I ‘m a WE user, but that kit was for WA and I would have to fix it if I got it! Or I could get RA’s barrel adapter. In this case, if only to build an upper receiver, the cost would be: front end kit $160 USD, receiver $50 USD, Hopup unit and bolt carrier $70 USD, adapter $10 USD, so the half gun would cost $290USD. If I ordered a new gun and build it, it would be $420 USD at least. So I delayed my plan.

When I knew that RA was about to release WE forged receiver with AST exclusive agent SVOBODA real steel AAC .300 BLACKOUT 9 inch front end kit with AAC new flash hider and KAC URX 8 inch handguard, I was wondering whether to buy the kits or to order a complete gun? But the term “limited” got me! Who invented it?

After some calculation, the cost of a complete gun is almost the same as that of separated parts to install myself. So I ordered a complete gun to RA. It took me three weeks to get it. When I got it, I wanted to know what was so good about it right away. I tested a magazine and the recoil was so strong that I almost lost control. It was totally different from last time! And it deserves a nice look.

Exterior

As mentioned before, the SVOBODA real steel AAC .300 BLACKOUT 9 inch front end kit with KAC licensed marking URX8 inch handguard is included. The RA-tech M4 forged aluminum receiver with AAC engraving and marking is included. But the AAC engraving is a lot deeper than that of the sample gun. The shooting mode selection is H&K style. The dust cover, forward assist, charging handle and pins are all renewed! All the parts that should be steel are all steel! For stock and grip, though most players and stores would use CTR or CRANE stock by MAGPUL, it uses MOE. But I prefer COLT original grip. The WE stock is firm so I keep it. I just added the PTS ASAP gun sling when I got home. I’m not used to MOE so I changed back to original stock after taking the picture.

PTS ASAP gun sling fits perfectly! The original COLT grip is more comfortable than MOE (my personal feeling.) The receiver is smoother than the one on the sample gun. It should have been processed multiple times.

The H&K shooting mood selection marking showed in the picture. The receiver pins are installed by the techs. The new dust cover and you can see the steel bolt carrier with AAC marking. When I ordered, they never said it would be marked.

Internal

When I tested it in May, the steel bolt carrier was heavy and slow. Remember I said, “the bolt carrier moves slow. But the recoil is clear. After some testing, the speed is up but still slower than original one.” This time I tested with a new WE magazine, the speed is the same as original one. And the recoil is even stronger. When I installed the PTS gun sling, I saw two gaskets in the buffer tube. That’s the result the techs tuned it. After all, I’m just a user. The tuning is on the experts! WE M4 series are value for money. But the only problem is the internal parts are soft and weak and ear-out after some time. After changing to open bolt kit, the problem is improved. But to solve it once and for all, you can only install steel parts. When I got home and changed the sling, I found even the stock extension is not original! The upgrades are way over my expectation!

Excuse me for handshaking after shooting a magazine. But the AAC marking is simply awesome! The dust cover is renewed and durability is better than original Zinc one!

With RA-tech CNC steel M4 bolt carrier and aluminum nozzle, the issue of original wear-out or delay with magazine valve is now solved. The nozzle is smooth. It’s lighter and do no damage to the magazine when shooting. Each gun is assembled and installed and tested before handing to customers. It was almost the perfect status when I got it. It’s the AAC marking that the long wait is worthy.

Although the trigger assembly it not as real as other brands, the stability is better and fixing is easier. After installing RA-tech steel trigger assembly, there’s no need to worry about the wear-out of firing pin anymore. When I pull the trigger, the feeling is different from the original one and I will get used to it.

Conclusion

From the moment I tested the sample gun, I knew I would probably collect it. Then I saw this gun again. It developed into a whole new level because there were more upgrade parts! The more parts I checked, the more surprise I found. Other engraving, frame small parts, installation and tuning are now included. This feeling is "priceless.
