DISTANT THUNDER NEWS FLASH! (Very important reading):
The Distant Thunder Committee has been advised that due to various recent legislative restrictions on the upcoming event, that to host Distant Thunder on Ministry of Defence land we must have complete exclusivity on the site. In accordance with this MoD requirement, we have been given exclusive and full access to the entire Swynnerton Training Area on the 29th of July 2005 to the 1st of August 2005.
We are very excited about this new development as this gives us use of the best elements of the Swynnerton Training Area, including the new 30 room killing house, the bunker system, the river assault area, the 12″ secured perimiter fence, the ample car parking, the Continental driving system, numerous ruined buildings, and a mixture of terrain in a geographically central site.
For those people feeling dissapointed that Distant Thunder will not be held in May, we have decided to host a social gathering for the airsoft community on the original dates. This will be called Battle Camp Alpha. It will be a more relaxed and informal atmosphere where players will have an opportunity to chat with each other, make plans for Distant Thunder, shop for new equipment, and meet their commanders. In order to express our appreciation to those people who have shown continued faith in Distant Thunder, this event will be substantially discounted for those who have already made financial contributions.
Distant Thunder has attracted a great deal of interest, with input from many sources, which has allowed us to develop this project on a daily basis. The Swynnerton Training Area Commandant, the dedicated teams of players and staff that have worked tirelessly on preparing for the event, the vendors and site owners who have supported us throughout, all have help put this event onto the path of success.
All current bookies will be transferred to the July dates. Please bear with as we work to keep the administration of this change in order and feel free to contact any of the Distant Thunder Committee if you have any questions or concerns.
PS: We would like to thank the selfless individual who has taken the time to formally point out some of our potential shortcomings, and bringing them to the attention of EVERYONE involved. We want to thank you for helping make Distant Thunder a safer environment for all involved, young and old.
