See this is one of those times that I pop through my bookmarks and old links to see if anything new is around of interest. Monsters in Motion have sent out their latest newsletter which includes details that the M2019 Blaster will be ready to ship in two weeks time. This Blaster replica is, as far as I know, made by the guys at Steelhawk Airsoft, where I had a quick look this morning. The guys there have really updated their pages from the placeholder that was there previously and a curious muzzlelite thing on the RHS menu caught my eye.
Called the "Sidewinder" with the tag line of "The Ultimate Support Weapon" I was naturally interested. I have to say it looks blooming odd, but with a quoted RoF of 90BBs a second and running on CO2 at 350fps I’m interested. It looks to be based on the old Sun Project Muzzlelite outer chassis at least which in turn used to have the guts from and an old Maruzen AUG NBB inside (have a butchers over at ClassicAirsoft’s pages).
The RRP is perhaps slightly higher than I expected, but at the current exchange rate it’s not a bad deal. Here’s the blurb from the guys there:
The Sidewinder is a fully automatic airsoft guns, firing 90 rounds per second (5,400 per minute). Yes, 90 BBs every second. It is available full auto only, but short bursts of 3 to 10 rounds are readily achieved. The magazine capacity is 1,600 rounds. BBs are loaded by simply pouring the ammo into the magazine which is in the buttstock of the gun.
Muzzle velocity is about 350 FPS with .2g BBs. You can use any weight 6mm ammo you’d like. Yes, it will even fire the 6mm paintball without any problems.
The gun is powered by CO2, or high pressure air (HPA). The tank fits into the front handle and hangs down at an angle. You can also run a remote tank.
It is a fully gas operated unit, with no springs, pistons, electronics. It comes with a stainless steel barrel which produces a mild, natural hop-up action. There are no user serviceable parts and no maintenance at all as you never need to lubricate the mechanism. It comes with a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer in California.
