Here you can see an operator who has been forced to abandon ship and finds himself in deep water. He would be weighed down by his armor and equipment and if it weren’t for the FirstSpear flotation integrated into his armor’s cummerbund he might well drown. However, once it is activated he comes to the surface and can not only survive but return fire if needed.

There are many outstanding precision tactical bolt guns. Very few however will cost you $700 or less. Here’s two. Welcome to the detailed Nutnfancy tabletop discussion on the Remington 700 AAC and SPS models. With hundreds of rounds fired at both range and long range engagements there’s plenty of data to share. First is the value equation. Some compromises have been made at this price point and there’s no avoiding it. The plastic stock on the SPS for instance is not free floated, lacks aluminum or pillar bedding, and does not offer the ultimate rigidity of a McMillan of HS-Precison Kevlar/Fiberglass option. The bottom metal is reminiscent of pot metal and of course does not meet military specification of steel manufacture (thank heavens). But at their heart, the AAC and SPS models are true to the proven Remington 700 heritage; one I myself have grown up with. A very strong receiver, big locking lugs, and a forged button rifled barrel (of perfect tactical contour for sustained firing) are hallmarks of this American made rifle. Secondly, accuracy did not disappoint. It is discussed and shown in depth with a variey of loads. 1 MOA is possible, even with these plastic stocks. Ergonomics are excellent in the 700 line: smooth operating bolt, perfectly postioned and positive safety, comfortable stocks (the green Hogue on the AAC is especially quite and comfortable), effective Supercell recoil pads, easy to dump floorplate, excellent and adjustable X Mark Pro trigger and an adequately size bolt knob. Shooting these guns was fun and rewarding…mostly. Reliablity was good but definitely not flawless. Several hang-ups in magazine feeding were experienced and ejection was anemic on several occasions. Keep the ejector and extractor clean free from brass shavings and carefully ensure all rounds are rearward pushed upon mag loading. Also methodical bolt manipulation on these 700s helps avoid hang-ups. The AAC version with its 20" threaded barrel is ready for either can or compensator and it is a very portable choice. It excelled in RunNGun action. For ultimate long range precision, I prefer the 26" barrel on the SPS gaining whatever velocity possible on the .308 chambering. This is a gun that can range out to 700 yards in the .308 caliber, perhaps even to 1000 with careful loads, practice, and shooting. Do analyze your POUs carefully as you may be better served by a good albeit more complex and usually heavier SAPR (discussed). Value on both models is excellent and Remington has outstanding service if there’s problems. Competitive options at this price will include the also excellent Savage line up which offers the same value but is usually much heavier. The Remington 700 AAC and SPS are my current favorite tactical offerings in the Remington value line up. The major sacrifice here against a 700P or XCR Tactical offerings is the plastic stock. But again in real world shooting it did not seem to handicap these rifles and they lighten the carry weights substantially. You then can score a very accurate American made sustained fire bolt gun for around $600 ($700 for AAC version) that can keep up with many other more expensive guns./////////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale for both: 8 out of 10 (with more postive ejection and reliability, 10 out of 10)

The SPR Concept has validity. A lightweight 5.56mm 18" barreled precision AR-15 or M16 variant rifle will offer somewhat improved ballistics, more lethality, and perhaps better precision. Most identify with the SPR as the US Army or US Navy Crane produced Mark 12 SPR in its various iterations. "Concept SPR" begins with an interesting discussion on the Special Purpose AR-15/M16 Rifle and its application, delineating fact from fiction on the SPR. Special emphasis is placed on the limitations of the .223/5.56mm cartridge in long range engagements. I concentrate my efforts and build is in Real World Application of the Special Purpose Rifle; gladly abandoning any attempt to duplicate a Mk 12 in the process. I am not in agreement with several of the component choices of the Mk 12 based on both cost and ergonomic considerations. Moreover I remain a non-worshiper of military adoptions realizing the innovative and unconstrained civilian market is superior in almost all respects. Instead I look to lightness, accuracy, durability, and top shelf ergonomics in the modifications of this rifle. This version of a TNP SPR, built on the Sabre Defense SPR #90116 model, achieves all of that as shown and weighs in at 6 lbs 14 oz with BUIS. This below most other 16" barreled AR-15 carbines. Components are shown and discussed in detail and its two years of shooting performance in TNP is the foundation of the review. Some will spend extraordinary levels of money to replicate a military Mk 12 Mod 0 or 1. I consider this a fool’s errand unless the individual throws out the Second Kind of Cool flag (criticisms off limits then). You’d be better off to focus your build along this concepts shown here. In terms of capabilities and ergonomics, this super lightweight, fast, reliable, and accurate SPR meets and/or surpasses the vaunted Mk 12.//////////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale on TNP SPR: 10 out of 10

The Mission Spec Two Point Sling (M2P) is an adaptive 2-Point sling for Law Enforcement and Military Operations designed for open field operations and close quarters encounters. This is quite a few years old now and it’s actually on YouTube already, but if just 1 person sees this because it’s been uploaded an extra time when they wouldn’t have seen it before, I think that’s made the world a tiny little bit better.

The AMD-65 is the latest to Echo1′s lineup of AEGs. Not being your traditional AK on the field, this gun stands out with it’s unique foregrip and folding stock. Some key features to point out is the shorter front end and folding stock. The front section uses a short ended outer barrel and gas block compared to other AK’s. Allowing room for maneuverability, this gun is great for close quarter environments. To increase the control while on the move there is a vertical tactical grip added to the bottom of the metal hand guard. On the back of the gun is the metal folding stock that is fitted with a rubber pad. The stock has a secure lock feature that must be pressed in while the stock is extended or folded over. With the locking feature the stock is secure while in use and still allows quick use if needed.

Constructed mostly out of metal the AMD-65 uses a steel body to keep the weight and feel of the gun very realistic. The inside is nothing but the best using upgrade parts to make this a field ready gun out of the box. Included in every AMD is a MadBull Blue hop up buckings giving players a pre-upgraded AEG.The gearbox uses 8mm steel bearings with steel gears giving the player a durable and efficient Airsoft gun. The piston is made out of polycarbon and has a re-enforced pick up tooth and the second tooth. An already trimmed AoE meshing and a ported piston head with bearings is already installed allowing the AMD to be one of the best built Airsoft gun out on the market.

The CRKT Ripple is nothing to carry. That is where it makes its first win. The light aluminum CRKT Ripple by Ken Onion weighs only 2.2 ounces. The ultramarine TiNi coated stainless steel framed version is not far behind at just 2.9 ounces. Add in their very slim forms and you have a almost invisible carry knife. Until you need it. Speed and lockup in both seem flawless with the IKBS ball bearing system. Perfect blade centering results. The Ripple Aluminum is a liner lock, the SS version is a framelock. Both show adequate strength in utility tasks with moderate testing. The burnished handles revealed shiny metal details and to bring to mind the Alien form. The blue is especially striking on the Ripple and almost lends a custom look. Some may not cotton to such looks. I do. Jimping found on handle and blade spine adds much to the ergos of the Ripple. A guard is formed by handle and flipper. The SS Ripple has chamfered edges on its pillar constructed handel. The Aluminum version, as of 2012, does not and it has a zytel backspacer. Extra lengths of lightening are undertaken here: 44 tiny holes save micro ounces show commitment to lightness, a welcome change in the knife world. Don’t expect "warmness" to the metal handles, that’s not part of the deal. But what you gain in the carry comfort makes the loss bearable. Two blade steels are given: Acuto Plus in the high end Ripple, 8Cr14Mov in the value Ripple. The Acuto steel cut with ease and seems to provide VG10 performance with better edge holding. It sharpened to a fine edge with the EPA. Blade shape is perfection: hollow ground, sharp tip, flats for consistent resharpening, and even a rounded spine for detail. The scotch brite finish on the Acuto Ripple is beautiful. The clips are polished but are a bit too "proud" and need modification (shown). Sadly they are not repositionable and carry only tip down, a continuing and ridiculous CRKT tenet. Value is extreme in the aluminum Ripple at around $30. You’ll miss out on the better looks, the better steel, and rounded edges but it’s the lightness winner. Value is acceptable in the Ripple Acuto; its costs mount with the steel and finishing work. If you’re thinking of one day scoring a custom Hinderer XM-18, save your money…and your time (in waiting). This knife to me is just as good and actually in some ways better. This is the licensed, Kershaw factory produced interpretation of that knife and it’s a winner. Besides its good looks, the 0560 series brings technical features that impress: 3D machined, beadblasted 6AL-4V titanium, 3D CNC machined G10 scale, contrasting black fasteners and standoffs, Hinderer lockbar stabilizer, excellent jimping, captured pivot adjustment, KVT ball bearing pivot point (ensuring consistent centering, fast opening), deep near perfect 4-way clip, deep finger choil, and a 3.75" flat ground Elmax steel drop point blade (should be very rust resistant). With these features, ergos for the tactical POU are good. Speed and lockup are outstanding on the 0560. Being a titanium framelock with an opposing liner, weight can’t be the same as a polymer or Zytel framed folder. But at 5.8 oz I find it an achievement, made possible by aggressive material removal in milled out slots. Value is good but as a US produced knife it’s still up and many other full size, hard use tactical folders will beat its price point (discussed), Nevertheless, siren song of the ZT 0560 series is its pedigree: just like the XM-18, it’s a fighter. Unrepentant and proud. That alone adds coolness with the tactical blade collector. This knife revives my interest in the ZT line, much lighter than some of its predecessors but with the same strength and capabilities. Chronograph FAQ
To properly use the Chronograph, please be sure the muzzle of the gun you wish to test does not extend beyond the first sensor of the device. The first sensor begins where the included silver shroud ends. The FPS reading is achieved by taking the time elapsed between the two built-in sensors.
The ideal distance to hold the muzzle is just inside of the silver shroud.

When measuring for FPS, please be sure to allow for at least a one second pause between shots for the sensor to calculate and display the FPS measurement. Firing too quickly before the measurement is displayed will cause the chronograph to cease measurement of the previous shot and begin measurement of the most recent shot.

When firing through the chronograph, please be sure the gun is aimed straight. If the trajectory of the BB is angled or is deflected off the inside walls of the chronograph, it may cause the measurement to be inaccurate.
The digital display may appear to be brighter at the bottom and slightly dimmer near the top and edges. This is normal as the design of the chronograph has the backlight at the bottom of the screen.

The chronograph digital display may appear to be scuffed/scratched. The scuffs and scratches are actually on the protective film placed over the display. Simply peel away the film to reveal your display.

In most respects, the Kershaw Cryo 1555 has all the makings of a runaway best seller. Carrying the handsome lines of the Hinderer XM18, the little Cryo packs in a ton of utility in its small size. With a partially flat ground 8Cr13Mov blade, the 1555 did well in cardboard cutting a good representative task for this EDC blade. The blade shape is attractive and has belly and a strong tip. Some jimping can be found on its spine. It deploys well with a thumb flipper or dual thumbstuds which extend within easy reach for both lefties and righties. Lockup is very solid and showed no weakensses in moderated testing. The 4 way positionable blackened clip is near perfect and carries deep. The stainless steel handle slaps are slick sided but well rounded and house the integral lock (along with cool Hinderer lockbar stabilizer too). A tubed lanyard hole and blackend pillar standoffs show excellent attention to detail on this value folder. This grey TiNi coated Cryo is a looker and the knife looks expensive. But it isn’t. For around $30 (more or less), you could score this Chinese produced 1555, making it a slam dunk entrant into my "Best Knives Under $40"(http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL71D82B6E8A7BD53F). But for me and my EDC system, the Cryo is not perfect. The 4.2 ounce weight is substantial, a sad reality of the full stainless steel frame of the knife. This is the weight of MANY full size EDC and Tactical blades reviewed here in TNP (shown). Don’t be thrown by the price on the 3.8 oz Boker AK74. It’s cheap but it’s not cheaply made. Consider the AUS8 steel that holds a finely honed edge. The aluminum handle, while not higher quality 6000 or 7000 series, is tough and ergonomic. Jimping’s there and provides some traction as do the finger grooves. The pocket clip is overly large and goofy but carries deep. Speed when converted to auto function with a proper spring (as Blade HQ) does is superb. Lockup is not perfect but it rarely is in an auto. You will be hard pressed to score this quality in any other auto at this price. What can be said about the Sebenza that hasn’t been said. THIS! Welcome to the feature length Nutnfancy KRV on what many consider to be the best tactical folder of all time (marketed officially as EDC knife). Many original aspects weigh into my discussion perhaps providing some fascinating insight to the long term success of the Chris Reeve Sebenza. But don’t expect fan boy treatment here; I’m more open minded than that and my breadth of tactical blade experience makes me a hard one to impress. Instead you will get both the philosophical and full TNP knife review experience here on the Sebenza. To understand its draw and attraction to buyers willing to pay the astronomical $410 price you will have to understand the expert marketing and brand management of Chris Reeve. Its price alone sends a message of specialness that many embrace willingly. That’s not to say this Sebenza is not a squared away EDC or Tactical blade; it is. Details are shown and discussed and the quality proves itself. From the titanium handle slabs, the beautifully executed S35VN drop point, the reasonable 4.8 oz carry weight, and durability of this US produced knife, the Sebenza earns its keep in any reasonable POU. However the price stands glaring to anyone familiar with the outstanding competition within the tactical knife world and it must addressed. This has always made the Sebenza polarizing; some will hate it (based on pricing) others will defend it to the death. Interestingly then I introduce two new POUs to include Douche OR Admiration knife and discuss them, bringing high levels of entertainment to the video. Finally competitive options are shown and I represent the Sebenza dissenters with equal fairness as they rightly question the value of this blade. In the end, the Sebenza stands and delivers solid design elements, quality craftsmanship, superb materials, good looks, light weight, and a skillful and consistent brand management by CRK. At first glance the Elite Force M4A1 from Umarex might not seem much different from the other economy class AEGs seen on the market today. Although, once you start looking closer you will find that this sharp looking rifle has some cutting edge features that you will not see on competing brands.

The rifle is manufactured for Umarex by the Hong Kong based company Ares and brings with it many of their innovative creations. For starters its gearbox, while based on a V2 design, has a quick change spring system which allows the user to swap springs without needing to open the gearbox. This is accomplished with a specially designed steel spring guide which with the aid of a hex key can be rotated a quarter turn and unlocked from the gearbox shell allowing the spring to be extracted through the back of the gearbox.

You will also find the trigger switch has been updated from the exposed type found in traditional AEGs to a sealed, once piece snap switch similar to those found in M249 models. This design not only helps keep grease and dirt off of the contacts but it also engages cleaner with less arc so the contacts will have a longer life span.

The receiver of the rifle is constructed out of a heavy duty polymer which features a textured finish that gives it a parkerized appearance. Its barrel, front sight and buffer tube are all metal so the rifle has good weight and is well balanced. As common on most M4 series AEG rifles, pulling back on the charging handle opens the dust cover and moves the highly detailed mock bolt carrier to reveal the hop-up adjustment. The hop-on system this rifle is also unique with a larger adjustment wheel which sits perpendicular to the length of the rifle. We found this design allows the shooter to make more precise adjustments when dialing in the rifles hop-up.

Overall the Elite Force M4A1 is a well built, solid performing rifle with some pretty cool features that you will not find on most AEGs in its price class. It is packaged with a battery, charger and even a spare magazine so it is a great AEG for those of you who are just getting started or if you are in the market for a solid backup or loaner rifle.

Upcoming book only game in the UK this August

Yay though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death I shall fear no evil….because I have a Springfield Armory M1A. Looked down upon by some because of its foreign manufacture and investment cast receiver, I discuss the realities of the S.A. M1A as I discovered them. This journey took me through 16 years of shooting these guns with heavy involvement here in TNP during the last three years. In meeting mil-spec, the S.A. M1A is far from the military M14 and differences abound. However in practical use they are the same gun and have the same capabilities. As such the SA M1A in some ways inherits the storied track record of the M14 as it continues to soldier on across the world killing bad guys at both close and long ranges. But it’s also made its own track record, especially with me. I find the SA M1A to rank up there with the best heavy caliber semi-auto battle rifles made (FAL would be another). Reliability tops the list. During shooting tests three failed shots occurred (one FTE) but it was unclear if it was the 1980s machine gun ammo’s fault or not. In Operation Red Skies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiZm35cNylM) my preferred type, the M1A Scout Squad, ran with impressive reliability. I would carry that gun into battle. Accuracy is also generally excellent from the type. I show both iron sight and optics assisted results but its reasonable to expect 1 to 2 MOA results with ammo it likes. Some SA M1As don’t shoot quite that good and I show that too! Ergos carry over from the 1950s which is to say this is a full size, walnut and steel (or composite) battle rifle. It is not light nor is it easy to carry. In your POU you will have to make thoughtful choices of Firepower vs Mobility. Expect about a 10 lb naked carry weight depending on model chosen. But I love the feel of the M1A, its purposeful combat lines, and ideal balance. The two stage Garand trigger carries over and it shows excellent reliability and predictability. I rec’ a NM modification on this to achieve a 4.5 to 5 lb pull. That makes me smile when found. The SA plastic stock is excellent if they get the mag well sizing correct. It has high traction, comes in colors, and its light. And you won’t care if you beat it up in your shooting operations. Many configs are discussed and I show my faves, shot extensively for this review. Topping the list will again be the Scout Squad and all "Loaded" versions of Springfield’s M1A. These loaded rifles come equipped with med wt NM barrel, NM trigger mod, and NM sight mods. It’s the most rifle for the least money. The Squad functions well in ALL realistic POUs and excelled even in 600 yard night engagements with its 18" barrel. It’s muzzle brake looks cool and works well. It is lighter and faster than the 22" barreled versions. The SOCOM 16 makes a hard hitting carbine that’s compact and squared away but the SOCOM II with its goofy cluster rail is not endearing. It adds stupid weight and tears the hands. It may look cool in video games but I stripped it off for testing I hated it so bad. Nevertheless even that gun rocked my Sledgehammer Drill like no other .308 rifle has before or since (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLMV8n_tW-A). It’s GI fiberglass stock comes in some cool camo colorations as well. Durability of the SA M1A showed no weaknesses over the years of shooting: no parts flew off, no receivers cracked, no barrels failed. That’s not to say Springfield Armory does a perfect job with these guns; several quality misses are noted in the type and you too may have to seek warranty service. But consider the price. Though much elevated since the 1990s, the SA M1A is coming in around half of what a US produced forged receiver M1A will cost. I had originally planned on using the footage for a future review video. Little did I expect to capture some EPIC gameplay footage. As per my usual routine I stick with what I know best and thats close quarter movement. Accompanied by Steve, he and I made sure we got up close to OpFor. To appreciate the Walther PP and PPK you will have to understand its dual personality. Made famous in movies and video games, it has been a secret agent pop culture icon since the 1960s. James Bond of course leads the pack. But hundreds of other movies feature these handsome pistols. It is shown to have ridiculous but entertaining capabilities in these movies. Sinister Marissa Wiegler in "Hanna" takes out speeding a vehicle and its occupants at 75 yards with a Walther PP. But this sexy portrayal of the Walther PP/PPK has indoctrinated a generations of movie goers and I admit some influence here myself. But if the guns were substandard the story would end there. However in analyzing the other half of the PP/PPK personality you find a very capable defensive pistol with an amazing 80 year plus track record. Forget James Bond: real life Federal Agents, DEA Agents, SWAT Team Members, Contractors, Police Officers, Undercover Cops, CIA Agents, real life spies, and many civilian carry permit holders have relied upon these pistols for decades. I carried the Interarms PPK shown for sevens years myself as a primary carry gun and to this day I feel adequately armed with it. The PP design was ground breaking in 1931 and even still holds its own despite other stiff .380 competition. The PP/PPK features still are not matched by many .380 gun designs: ultra compactness, slimness, adequate lightweight, good sights, hammer drop safety you can choose to ignore, quality construction, easy takedown, and a decent single action trigger (the DA sucks unless worked). Ergo downsides of the classic PP/PPK is slide bite and a stiff double action trigger. Modern updates to the PPK design by S&W have extended beavertail extensions and added a firing pin block. However I still favor the Interarms classic PPK (not PPK) for its ultimate carry compactness. Many manufacturers come into play with the PP/PPK history and little time exists in the video to cover them. Its history through WW II is tied into German war machine and even Hitler used a 7.65mm PPK to kill himself. But my experience lies mostly with the two shown: a Manhurin PP and a Ranger Manufacturing/Interarms SS PPK. The former has issues of failing to go into battery (discussed) despite some recoil spring changes, the latter is 100% reliable. Both show phenomenal accuracy. The PPK shown achieved an astounding 1 1/4" group at 25 yards with 90 gr Federal Hydrashocks. Therein lies a key 1st type of Cool attraction to the type: a pocket pistol that can do a head shot at 25 yards. Try that with your LCP. Granted the PP/PPK chamberings are anemic (.32 ACP or .380 ACP these days). The modern loads in the .380 help. And being an old school machined steel creation, the PPK has always been expensive to buy. Lighter and cheaper options exist. But the PP/PPKs will hold their value and some more collectible versions have skyrocketed in price. Sadly the longer and beautifully proportioned German produced Walther PP is unavailable a new purchase; you’ll have to scour secondary sources for this collectible. And that is a primary POU for the PP/PPK: a presentation pistol, a piece of history, and piece of coolness to shoot occasionally and enjoy in handling. But just like in the 60s, 70s, 80s, these pistols provide an amazingly comfortable backup piece or even primary CCW choice. Honestly my Interarms PPK comes along for defensive reasons seldom these days as I opt for a polymer 9mm choice for more rounds, sometimes lighter weight, and higher power. But this classic design endures in both its capabilities and still attracts knowledgeable weapon enthusiasts all over the world. Its sexy image carries on and we will continue to enjoy its antics and sometimes hilarious capabilities on screen. The WE Hi-Capa 4.3 has a metal slide, a metal frame, and a textured polymer grip. It is essentially a short double stacked 1911; the breakdown and the operation remain the same. The functional grip safety and ambidextrous slide safety make its operation safe for all users. The blow back action is operated by high pressure gas, such as Ultrair green gas. The rail beneath the barrel on the frame is used for mounting accessories like a Pistol Flashlight or Laser etc. The reinforced metal parts include outer barrel, chamber, recoil spring rod, slide stop, safety, hammer, and trigger. The internal upgrade parts include reinforced recoil spring, hammer spring, firing pin, extreme high flow valve. This airsoft gun has the well established operation of the 1911 with the advantages of a double stacked magazine and a under barrel rail.

The Great War started and ended on October 23, 2077 when nuclear weapons were launched by all the nuclear-capable nations of the world.

In two hours time the world was nearly wiped clean from the nuclear fire. Once the last bombs fell the world fell silently into a deep, dark, long lasting nuclear holocaust.

The world did not end on that dark day over two centuries ago. Many humans, safe and secure inside their Vault-Tec vaults, went on with their lives below ground while the world changed above them. Hideous new creatures like the Radscorpions, Super Mutants, and Ghouls sprang forth from the radioactive slag left behind by the Great War.

In the power vacuum left behind by the complete collapse of the government of the United States of America, small bands of survivors came together to being life anew in the wastelands.

Today.

Spokane is infested. First it was the New California Republic, crawling all over the place, hiding in plain sight, stealing the GECK out from under your nose at Bell Air Force Base. Then it was the Enclave, taking over the Inland Northwest one forgotten hamlet at a time. They used to call this the Lilac City.

Hard to think of the place as flowery when you’re being crushed under the boot heel of those thugs following President John Henry Eden. Join the Enclave – you get a shiny new outfit. Reject the Enclave – you get a bullet to the brain pan.

Time to head west.

Nobody’s traveled as far west as the Emerald City since the bombs fell. No one knew what happened to the Puget Sound region since the Chinese launched everything they had at us on October 23, 2077 in one last futile gasp of the Sino-American War.

Walking along the blasted ruins of President Dick Richadson Parkway, down across the western slope of the Cascades, you start to see something has gone horribly wrong. Old freeway signs, street signs, advertising boards, storefront placards, everywhere you turn …

Everything is written in Chinese.

It appears Anchorage wasn’t the only place the People’s Republic landed after all.

Come blasting down a mountain again with intermediate mountain bikers TacticalDoodle and I. But first we have to climb a mountain and it’s a slow grind…at least for me. Doodle darts up. Our late start that day means in turns into a night ride later on and the GoPro Hero2s deliver grainy footage. But you’ll get the feel of this outstanding downhill single track that tests riders and bikes. It’d be a good hill to mess yourself up on if you don’t stay dialed in. Since there’s no expert riders in TNP you’ll have to put up with us for this adventure. Today we have the video review of the A&K Masada, licensed by MagPul. This is a very nice gun with a solid external build and some awesome features, such as its seven position stock and flip up iron sights. The Model 1911 was the product of a very capable person, namely John Moses Browning, father of several modern firearms. The pistol was designed to comply with the requirements of the U.S. Army, which, during its campaign against the Moros in Philippines, had seen its trusty .38 revolver to be incapable of stopping attackers. An Ordnance Board headed by Col. John T. Thomson (inventor of the Thomson sub-machine-gun) and Col. Louis A. La Garde, had reached the conclusion that the army needed a .45" caliber cartridge, to provide adequate stopping power. In the mean time, J. Browning who was working for Company, had already designed an autoloader pistol, around a cartridge similar to contemporary .38 Super (dimension-wise). When the Army announced its interest in a new handgun, Browning re-engineered this handgun to accommodate a .45" diameter cartridge of his own design (with a 230 gr. FMJ bullet), and submitted the pistol to the Army for evaluation. This is a gas gun, which means it’s powered by gas and doesn’t need to be cocked every time. It’s fast, clean, inexpensive and easily maintained; it does not require batteries to operate.
