Right now the second reading of the Violent Crime Bill is happening right now in the House of Commons at the moment. Due to the wonders of the internet you can watch a live video stream of what’s going on in there right now.
There are some good comments being raised by MPs that have been contacted by members of the public (it has to be the first tiem I’ve heard "Airsoft" and "Airsofting", mentioned in the Commons).
To watch it right now, go to http://www.parliamentlive.tv/ and click "Watch Now" next to the House of Commons link.
Right now you can see how some uninformed MPs make highly erroneous sweeping statements about "imitation firearms and how they can be reactivated", which every reasonable person knows simply isn’t the case (for the record.. something that’s manufacturered inert can’t be reactivated, and anything that can be is already illegal in the UK). On the bright side there are some very sensible comments being made right now, I’d recommend watching it if you are concerned about what’s going on right now. Anyone in Hackney might want to contact their MP as she is wildly off the mark in a vast majority of her comments.
Edit (22:44): Well it’s all over now. For those that missed it a full transcipt of what was said should appear in the Hansard, specifically in the Daily Debates section. As expected there’s more than a few hard liners in the commons, but equally there look to be a very good selection of MPs that are more aware of the firearms ammendments and sympathetic towards legal owners and businesses.
