Project ideas: Morita replicas

by Arnie

Fancy making your own Airsoft Morita such as those seen in StarShip Troopers?

Ron Shanko makes his own fibreglass models just like the original props and ships all around the world. He currently trades via eBay where you can pickup a complete kit for 179USD.

This is very exciting.  I have been wanting one of these for a long time.

Finally, here is the fiberglass kit we have been waiting for.

The famous bug blaster used in the movies that was originally constructed of fiberglass shells and then fitted with either live fire guns or dummy parts and used in production is offered in affordable kit form.

What you get; A complete replica.

Parts are hollow, and sturdy fiberglass shells molded full size ready to build your dream project

Parts:

  • Fiberglass Left side Rifle
  • Fiberglass Right side Rifle
  • Fiberglass Left side simulated Magazine
  • Fiberglass Right side simulated Magazine
  • Metal simulated Shotgun tube and Barrel
  • Fiberglass simulated Shotgun sliding grip
  • Fiberglass 2 triggers
  • Fiberglass tip
  • Fiberglass simulated M-16 reciever
  • Everything ready to glue and paint your replica.

You can build it several ways, simply as a display prop, or build a more complex model. This complete fiberglass shell kit includes everything needed from tip to magazine to glue and paint a replica that is an accurate scale copy for display.

Or build yourself a more useful replica. You can modify and use the shells to fit your choice of Air Soft, Paint Ball, Pellet, BB, air or live fire, they can be fit inside these kit’s shells.

Disclaimer; Not a gun, no gun included. NOTE; This complete fiberglass shell kit is offered as a prop kit and does not include;

  • any moving parts,
  • sling, paint, glue
  • and comes unpainted, vent holes undrilled and unassembled, and the kit cannot be made to shoot anything.

My built up: Enjoy a few pictures of my built up replica that I used aftermarket parts added inside the fiberglass shells.

NOTE; None of these internal parts I used are included in the kit, but are available at local stores.

It is up to you to decide how to build yours.

My project started off easy, first I prepped and fit the shells, drilled all the vent holes and painted them.

I then fit inside an inexpensive B3 air rifle (top trigger works it), I got for $27 from Harbor Freight.

I made aluminum mounts and epoxied them in place so the unit can be disassembled for servicing.

Next to aim it, I fit a K Mart sporting goods gun laser inside the simulated shotgun barrel tube for targeting (the bottom trigger lights the laser up).

And then I added another electrical circuit to assist loading the pellets at night.

A switch above the receiver inside the stock turns on a red LED under the carry handle that shines in the breach.

It is pretty heavy, it is all fiberglass and metal and the air rifle’s barrel was not cut shorter. I ran it through the fiberglass kit’s tip.

Action video:

This kit would work great just for a display piece built right out of the box. It is hollow and lightweight.

I love my working replica and I can recommend building one for yourself. You will love it!

Satisfaction guaranteed!

Thank you , Ron
