  • SOG Agency: "Legacy of Fight" by Nutnfancy
When the enemy is unconventional, fight unconventionally. In this SOG fixed blade review, I start off with commentary on how conventional, foolish tactics got a lot of American troops killed in our past wars. We were shocked at the brutality and fanatasim of the Japanese Imperial Marines at Tarawa and they taught us some hard won lessons. Showing no adherence to Western conventions, this enemy would use any methodology including phony surrenders, shooting of medics rendering aid, bombing of hospitals, suicide bombings, Bonzai charges, and close quarter sword charges to hew down American troops. Only when we upped our game in battle commitment and equal brutality did we gain the upper hand in the Pacific Island War in WW II. Amazingly many of those lessons against such an enemy were forgotten in Korean and later Vietnam. Conventional forces, hamstrung by ignorant leadership and ridiculous order of battle constraints and limitations, often met with failure and high casualities. US Special Forces had more latitude in the execution of their specialized missions which acted as force multipliers. Their highly dangerous missions needed specialize gear often excelling in the mission of killing. Operating behind enemy lines gathering intel, capturing key leaders, destroying C&C assets, and leader assassinations were carried out by these brave souls. Enter the SOG Agency. Patterned somewhat after the famous Randall Number 1 combat knife, this fighting knife represents the mystique and that uncompromising approach to warfare of those special operations units. And yet without substance it would fade away into obscurity. Like ithe Randall No. 1, the Agency is a dedicated fighting blade. The heft and balance are superb. The AUS8 razor sharp blade is hollow ground, handsomely sculpted (discussed), features excellent reach and penetration, and is lively in hand. Handling the Agency will make you a believer. The black titanium nitride finish on this blade is especially striking and is my preferred finish. The satin SOG Agency is also gorgeous and both make outstanding additions to a tactical blade collection. Fit and finish is excellent but I’d like to see a more perfect excution of the leather to metal fit on the handle; that’s about the only detectable downside in the knife. This expoxy impregnated leather-stacked handle is extremely roomy and comfortable in your chosen grip. And while it might lack ultimate water resistance and grip, it is true to the 2nd Kind of Cool and its heritage. The aluminum pommel and flush spanner nut is exquisite and adheres to the SOG pommel finishing. The double quillion guard is near perfect: curved and perfectly spanned to protect your hands. No jimping needed here. The black leather sheath is thematic, conventional, and shows good quality. Stitiching is well done and, like the Randall, it includes a honing stone in a pocket. If put into hard service by a troop, I would seek a Kydex option perhaps at the expense of lineage adherence. With such a sheath upside down carry could be effected. Weight seems less than it is due to the Agency’s perfect balance: 10 oz for the blade, 15.6 oz overall. Value on this overseas produced knife is outstanding, about $125 for the Agency Black TiNi version, about $105 US for the satin. The SOG Agency therefore is amazing production blade that upholds the mystique and capabilities of US Special Operations communities that sometimes hunt down and eliminate the enemy is his own backyard, nose to nose, toe to toe…the old fashioned way of winning wars. Though gorgeous in its lines and materials, it remains an effective weapon of close quarter combat, ready to fight the unconventional enemies of freedom. ///////////////Likability Scale: 10 out of 10 (price considered)/////////Music licensed from J. WARNING: Do not use Airsoft guns for your Halloween costume, or pull off any Airsoft related pranks or jokes. It can get your killed. Several years ago, a policeman in LA shot and killed a Halloween party goer who was brandishing an Airsoft gun in a house party. Police came to check on the noise and shot him dead. So be careful and be smart.

  • "Sunflower Shoot" Pt 2 by Nutnfancy
Storms off in the distance as the stiff wind carries the freshness through the flowers. This area is indeed special and we enjoy it. It was worth the long drive to get here. It was an ideal setting to host Actiontarget.com in The Nutnfancy Project with guests Jerrod, his girlfriend Amanda, and associate Avrami. Part 2 kicks off with an instructional run for Amanda. I equip her with a TNP Remington 597 and I makes sure she’s safe and has fun as a new shooter. A "tactical course" I guess can be a be overwhelming…actually knowing that 300,00 people are watching you doesn’t help either. Yeah I know a thing or two about that too. Anyways she’s a great sport and provides some funny moments. Also she brings it together and starts throwing some pain down on steel as she gains proficiency. The Remington 597 runs near 100% with 30 rd Rem mags. The TNP Daewoo DP-51 and Glock 26 also acquit themselves well as well do the transitions against 20 yard steel targets. Man is that hostage swinger plate fun or what? I bring in a run with the awesome KelTec SU-16CA, coated in sick Multicam by www.missionspeccamo.com (use "nutnfancy" code to save money). It wears a 2×7 Redfield scope and impresses everyone that shoots it (even Avrami who doubts the advantage of scopes!). We may have missed a few hits with this gun being zeroed for Wolf ammo at 100 yds but overall it puts down solid, 100% reliable runs. Then prepare for hilarity as Avrami demonstrates some "inexplicable" reliability problems with his Glock 27. OMG. You will love the revelation here and it stands as another great TNP warning. I guess I have to watch him close now…Israeli operator, yeah right! Jerrod runs fast, the storms stay away, we enjoy the reliability of the AT electronic targets (that allow close-in centerfire action shooting), and Amanda puts in another Rem 597 run before Part 2 ends. Time will fly on another somewhat epic TNP shoot. .////////////////////////Music licensed from TNPr www.youtube.com/user/bryanisms…thanks dude!

  • Sig SP2022: "The Stealth Sig" by Nutnfancy
This polymer Sig weighs less than the aluminum framed 200-series. But not by a lot; maybe a couple of ounces. I am always flabbergasted at manufacturers who produce a polymer pistol and it ends up weighing near 30 ounces. But once I get past THAT, things turn brighter on the Sig SP2022 in TNP testing…in fact it was downright surprising to me how well this gun ran. It is the successor to the marginally successful Sig Pro 2340, SP2009 series and is better. Better doesn’t mean perfect however as the earlier SP2022s, with some bad parts and sloppy QC from Sig US had reliability issues. Upon its reintroduction, Sig got smart and had the gun made in Germany from 2008 on and those models seem to be 100% with good reports from various users. The gun shown and tested here is a good example of that. After 100s of rounds, the internal extractor equipped 9mm 2022 ran like a champ (even with Blazer aluminum cased ammo) and also showed very impressive accuracy. It is easily capable of 2"-3" groups at 25 yds. Ergonomics are excellent with swappable grip panels (shown), great night sights, a decent trigger, squared and roomy trigger guard, standard Picatinny rail, perfect slide serrations, easily accessed slide release lever, and the ideal Sig grip angle. Take down is a snap (shown). I prefer the standard DA/SA Sig trigger for its speed, safety, and precision and the SP2022 happily includes it. Firepower in this SP2022 is an adequate 15 rds but you can run extended capacity MecGar mags for a bit more (recommended). The standout POU will be combat service pistol but some may press the 2022 into concealed carry roles. Though adopted in large numbers by some foreign agencies and smaller security establishments, the SP2022 as of yet does not yet enjoy the widespread fame, track record, and fan base of the other warrior pistols in the Sig line up. It’s a stealth Sig. As such expect fewer accessories for the is gun. But you may not care when you see the price. Value is excellent for a gun that in TNP testing showed itself to be on par with its more expensive stablemates; around $425 or so for the night sight version. This German made SP2022 is a standout winner in the high value pistol game. ///////////////Likability Scale: 8.5 out of 10 (price considered)/////////Music licensed from J. Shaw
