Talk about a busy day.. not even half way through work today and already had a range of interesting phonecalls with some jolly nice chaps from various places around the world. Just to take a break from things (while I wait for this blooming download to finish ..83% and counting) I thought it was time for a truly random update before I get on with the normal stuff. First things first though, you can now find Dave and Alan from OnPatrol in their own section of the forums. If you’re after some tactical gear then feel free to drop in and ask them a question or three.
Now in truly random stuff, there’s a handy tool out from NASA – the nice blokes that brought you freeze-dried icecream in a plastic bag, and invented a biro that would worked upside down (they’ve been to the moon too ya’ know). Anyway, back on topic WorldWind is a very fun, but slightly pointless program for most, that produces a 3D rendered view of the globe and then overlays the latest satellite imagery available using terrain map technology. Resolution is good enough to make out major roads (checkout these screenshots) but you’ll need a fairly decent computer to run it on (I’ve seen this program kill a P4 stone dead).
Slayer sent me a link that apparently appeared on b3ta which features a tiger playing football. I’m not one for footy myself and as it’s not in English I can’t be 100% certain that there’s nothing in there to offend.
In the truly mad world of reporting is proof of why everything you read in print may neither be 100% true.. or in this case perfectly sane (mirth sponsored by FireFox in the forums).
