Well as ever spanners seem to have been thrown in the works (kinda the norm for sever stuff). There’s a couple of teathing troubles that have cropped up since the big move. I figured I’d stick them up here rather than in the forums so it is more obvious:
- Post table instability – It appears that there is an issue with the size of our forum table as it is currently throwing the odd error. This seems to be an issue with our mysql server and the issue has been raised with the techs at the datacentre. Pages not responding properly that are mysql generated is a symptom of this. Update: A full (and long) check of the entire DB weeded out some old corruptions that were copied from the old box. (Fingers crossed) that’s the end of DB problems.
- Articles/reviews – the plain text articles and document pages were fixed and working as of yesterday. For some reason those changes made to configuration settings to allow everything to work appear to have reverted themselve. To say that this is wierd is an understatement. The problem
is being looked intonow fixed – local DNS needed to be flushed.
As soon as the gremlins are found, I promise to grab a bucket of water, expose them to sunlight and/or stick them in the microwave.
Gremlins have now been reduced to a puddle the consistancy of a sinus evacuation which is now covering the insides of in the microwave “..do you hear what I hear?“.
