Merry Christmas 2008
Merry Christmas folks hopefully not many of you are working today and getting a chance to relax with your family and friends.
I’d just like to wish everyone best wishes for the festive period, this includes all our readers, supporters, news staff, the forum staff (that do all the hard work) and the pixies and three hamsters that keep the server running! :)

More LCT Airsoft Product Reviews!
While, I finally got around to it, after server crashes and a particularly unpleasant bout of sickness and diarrhoea. You may (or probably won’t) recall that I contacted LCT Airsoft a while back to buy some of their advertised RPK components from them. Well, here they are, and here’s the reviews with some brief extracts:
The receiver is solid. VERY solid. It arrived cable-tied to a cardboard backing and wrapped in Taiwanese newspapers, and I have to say even this probably is not necessary for a receiver this resilient. Owners of Inokatsu steel receivers will not be disappointed; in terms of build quality this receiver seems identical in every way…
…What this exposes, however, is the fact that there’s a serious market gap for RPK sights. One manufacturer addressing this is LCT Airsoft. This is certainly very similar in appearance to a real steel RPK sight. Both windage and elevation work perfectly, with the windage dial accurately shifting the sight accordingly, and the elevation bar being a solid piece of metal designed to bite in place – unlike the Marui alternatives of old, which invariably slid up and down the sight before vanishing in the closest bush.
The AK / RPK Bolt review will follow as soon as I feel a bit more lucid, but for now that’s all from me!
Airsofting Plea: The importance of blood & bone marrow donations
This isn’t your usual commercial post, but rather one that I could not ignore, given the content. Rob from team Darkangel has been in touch with a plea that concerns everyone:
My 7 year old Niece is fairly ill at the moment.
She has been diagnosed with a condition that can be best described as “pre – leukaemic”… her bone marrow…is destroying her good blood. She is ok in herself but is now on a waiting list trying to find a match as the blood relatives aren’t a match for her. She’s now under GOSH for ongoing treatment, this includes regular blood transfusions to keep her going and then hopefully the transplant and then Chemo that will see her hospitalised in a sterile bubble for 6-8 weeks with no direct contact from anyone other than medical staff.
Hopefully this will happen before the condition becomes full blown.
Fortunately thanks to a team member of mine Ben (Bennyboy) who works for Great Ormond Street hospital we have been able to help by arranging some transport stuff for her to and from GOSH etc.
My team (Darkangel) regularly holds a charity event that sends the funds to GOSH and thanks to everyone that took part in the charity stuff…
Rob, (Team Darkangel)
Rob goes onto plead for that everyone in the airsofting to consider joining the ‘Anthony Nolan’ national register, as a simple blood test could save or at least vastly improve the lives of many like Rob’s niece.
Thanks. :)
Police commence crackdown on RIFs
Just to give you the latest on the Police enforcement of the VCRA:
Dorset Police have launched an amnesty on imitation firearms. Chief Inspector Wesley Trickey is quoted as saying ‘We will not be seeking to prosecute anyone handing one in, should the possession of it have been an offence’.
Dorset Police are now actively visiting retailers selling RIFs to ensure they are complying with the Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA), and have carried out test purchases at retail premises suspected of selling RIFs to people without exemption status.
It goes without saying that retailers are already aware of this, but this seemed an important point to raise.
West Midlands police have actually been taking action against retailers, with a store in Coventry, who they found to be selling cheap springers, having its stock seized after it was found they were selling them without purchase. In this case the store appears to have been a general sports shop which they were visiting to remind of the law in relation to the sales of knives, rather than an specialist airsoft shop.
I know that our members are committed to behaving in a lawful manner, and that all of us planning on purchasing airsoft replicas have evidence of our exemption status in place (be it UKARA membership if buying from a UKARA-registered shop, or site membership / a skirmish diary if buying from a non UKARA-retailer / importing from overseas), but it’s worth being aware that the police force do not consider the VCRA to be an ‘empty threat’ as some had feared.
Cheers. :)
How can we improve our news website?
Hopefully you all enjoy using Arnies, and find it a fun / informative place to visit on the web, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try and improve the experience for everyone.
One of the areas which I feel we could probably develop the website is in regards to its news section. At present a small team of dedicated volunteers work hard to bring you whatever relevant news we can get our hands on. I can’t help but feeling, however, that we could improve it…
…That’s where you fine people come in. Is there anything we can do here to improve the news section for you? Is it fine? Click here to visit the forum and view the news suggestion poll. You can choose as many answers as you wish, and if you wish, make any comments or suggestions. We’ll seriously consider all views – as long as they’re not too bizarre or abusive!
Once again, here’s the link to the poll:

Thanks for your continued patronage!
Updates from the forums
I thought I’d post a few updates from the forums:
- International sales open – EU/international and USA areas of the sales forums are now open to all users. Previously all were restricted to users with more than 100 posts, however this was not applicable to international sales. We think the new adjustment strikes a bit of a balance between safety, security and usability.
- New contributors wanted – We’re looking for as many news editors as possible. If you think you can bring something new to the site and your own identity and contributions to the readership then please do let us know.
- Upgrade roadplan – The forums have been upgraded, there’s more to do, but there’s lots of new features. It should be faster and it’s a whole heap easier to use. Check out the forums and see what you think. The new look isn’t complete and there’s more to do, however the back end is mostly complete.
ICS Exclusive!

ICS has sent us some exclusive images of the soon to be released ICS AK74-M and AK74-S which we covered on the news section back in March 2007. It looks like these will be available to customers either at the end of August to Mid-September. Right now we don’t have any pricing or other features of the gun, but as the saying goes ” A picture is worth a thousand words!”
For more pictures of the ICS AK74-M and AK74-S head on in to the forums to see more images of these excellent replicas here!
Colt’s Combat Commander Davidson Custom
This time we bring you a review on a new company designing and making extremely high quality replica hand guns. The Colt’s Combat Commander is probably one of the most remarkable pieces of craftsmanship that I have seen in the Airsoft industry and actually incorperates some real steel parts!
So go check out the full review here!
Make this airsofter a model – A special request from Dafool, in the name of Wanglin!!1!
Ok guys, this is the deal. Sounds like a stupid favour I know, but this is going big, and funny, for the Swedish airsoft community. The goal is to make Walle, a Swedish airsofter, win the competition, so his face is shown on the front cover of a Swedish magazine called KICKS. The winner become a model for the day simply said, and we’d love your help. If you klick on the link and let the page load, you will see his face on the top ten, you can’t miss it because he is wearing a german military helmet. He stands out among the crowd. Just look for an airofter ! When you found him, please vote 10 (and DON’T vote for anyone else please!).
Please spread this out so we can make airsoft win in the model industry !

CYMA Thompson AEG Reviewed!
Get it first on Arnies! The first English review of the much-anticipated CYMA Thompson is here!
Here’s a peek at what lies in wait:
… upon picking up the gun, the weight and length of the thing become apparent. It’s a heavy bugger of a gun – but it’s solid as hell, and that is pleasing to me, as I usually find that I have troubles with weedy guns that are too small for my man-hands *cough P90 cough*, and the Thompson is suited more to the larger amongst us. Although the Thompson is as long as an AK, the stock is a lot longer…
